BBC iplayer, has it had its day.

(similarly) Just found Iplayer (windows/opera) is serving up 540p content for programs where 720p should be available (from download options), so I think they have changed adaptive bitrate mechanism

Its always been dodgy but I had noticed its got worst recently, by coincidence certain content gets locked at 540p on netflix, 540p is a bit of a weird resolution, and we know the reason on netflix is DRM, so I suspect they deliberately restrict it as they think browser DRM is too weak.

Of course we all know this achieves nothing, content will still be available on the sea's so all they are achieving is annoying their customers.

Silly thing is there are off the shelf devices out there which can split and capture 4K HDCP protected content, and other ways to do it, so all they are doing is penalising legitimate viewers and holding back the quality of the product they are selling.
