BBC possibly to drop F1 coverage...

Very dissapointed with the BBC. If only there was a way to stop paying the license fee I would as after this revelation it's just 12 episodes of Top Gear a year that I watch on BBC. £145 for 12 hours of Top Gear seems a bit of a waste. Quality programming? Pah. The BBC stopped doing quality programming years ago. Apart from F1 and TG it's just rubbish.

No reason to be disappointed with the BBC regarding the F1 decision - it was out of their hands. The price Ecclestone and CVC have set is simply way beyond the BBC's budget. That's not the BBC's fault.

As for the rest of their programming, everyone's tastes are different. I happen to think BBC output [esp. Radio 4, Online, Documentaries] is way better than any other broadcaster.

So the best case, is that Sky always keep the F1 on the same channel (rather than switching it which I think they will do) which would cost me £14.50 + £7.00 per month. I would want it in HD hence the £7 extra.
So that comes to an extra £21.50 per month minimum.

It could in fact be that you require the "Sky sports collection" at £22.50 + £7.00 per month = £29.50 extra per month for me.

The above assumes no further discounts, so it might be that you can get money off to do with other deals/packages you have, but in my experience they don't tend to budge much on adding premium content like Sky.

Completely out of the question for me financially. I already pay them £65 per month for an acceptable BB service (too much ocntention in my area on anything below 50mb), TV and phone.

Indeed - the focus of dismay should be aimed at Bernie/CVC.

Is there any news on the teams view on this?

well if the figures are true the bbc paid £22 million for "the voice" whatever the hell that is !?

im guessing the f1 had to go to make savings for that. as well as next years olympics coverage which im sure the bbc will have on wall to wall with countless experts and critics that are about as exciting as watching paint dry in the dark.

Bernie is the doddering old fool, but he's been around so long he sees it as his sport. He is acting on behalf of CVC private equity firm and the only thing they care about in regards to F1 is increasing their investment by upping the fees.

The teams have said little since their meeting with Bernie, speculation being that they will get some of the money.

Having a supplier Llu also means that they don't have to pay bt's high costs or have to run through BT's equipment and it's less than perfect quality and restrictions.

It usually means lower costs to you (and the ISP) and less restrictions on you.

With a good ISP it's usually nothing but good news to be on a suppliers Llu.

The ISP usually gets it's equipment fixed quicker as well as they fix it and don't have to argue with BT about who's fault it is.

What do you currently get for £65pm? That seems mentally expensive if you're not already getting sports.

I'm confused. Martin Whitmarsh seemed to think that it was a delayed broadcast not highlights, so has he been lied to or did he misunderstand the facts? Also how exactly does reducing the number of people able to see the broadcast "increase the viewership"?

Consequently, there is more chance of me going to see every race than ever giving a penny to f-ing sky, and Bernie's sheer greed and abuse of fan's loyalty has pretty much ruled out the former. For shame.

The petition is up to 21k. Can't see it reaching the 1 mill tho

How can the BBC do such a thing to the most watched show on tv...

We need to get the UK Government petition to 100k, then it's debated in the House of Commons apparently.

It starts on the 7th August, I think we should all actively get people to sign it (even if they aren't F1 fans).

Normally I'm not committed enough to things to take some sort of action, but clearly this time the British public don't agree with it, so it's worth pursuing!
