what total BS.

bbc had a deal and they've broke it, of course you could have dealt with ITV or Channel4. just like you have dealt with sky.
its almost as good as the sky deal will mean more viewers.

This is so infuriating...

He claimed, "That's good for us, good for the teams and good for the fans."

Just how is it a good move for fans? how?! most "fans" won't even watch it any more.

Hopefully, in the next concorde agreement, online streaming will be separated from TV and that it is free, i think it was something they were going to discuss last time but the whole budget cap was more important.

I still don't understand how they can sit there and say things like that with a straight face.

How on Earth they think a subscription channel is going to result in more F1 viewers than a channel that literally every person in the UK with a functioning TV can view is beyond me.
He means sky live plus BBC highlights. No doubt they will combine the two in figures which may come out higher (people watching race and highlights etc).

Bernie's Math skills leave a lot to be desired:

there will be more eyeballs watching than we have now

How does he figure that? Assuming the BBC averaged 5m viewers, Sky Sports have 2m viewers, and making the totally off the wall assumptions that ALL 2m Sky Sports viewers will watch F1 and that ALL of those 2m viwers are additional viewers who have never watched it on BBC (i.e., the best sitaution possible) the figures are:

20 races on BBC = 20x5m = 100m viewers
10 races on BBC, 20 races on Sky = (10x2m)+(10x(5m+2m) = 90m

Its impossible for more people to be watching F1 next year than this year?

I think Bernie is more concerned about how much money he is making than viewers. Obviously he doesn't give a mint about us!

Got my new satellite dish ready for next year

I find this decision and the ease with which FOTA et al accept it very disturbing, a couple of years ago they were talking about better value for fans and cheaper tickets.

Meanwhile the tickets have gone up and the show has stayed exactly the same. They are all shameless and greedy.

While I am really not happy with the BBC/Sky arrangement there is a slight plus for me, my local is going to be showing the races Sky shows (recorded and shown at 1pm)so I have an excuse to spend an entire Sunday afternoon down t'pub

Will F1 win out though when there is football on? I know which most pubs are more likely to be showing!
