BBC possibly to drop F1 coverage...

Is there anyway of maximizing (gawd I sound like a ferrari team boss) publicity of the e-petition with something like 4chan? I don't use that site but have heard it can spread things like wild fire.

That could backfire big time. Knowing that lot they will start a petition for the opposite!

i would just start a petition on facebook. you get loads of people looking at it, but you dont get the comedians of the internet that make up 4chan.

they would probably make a petition for the cars to be scrapped, robot dinosaurs to take their place and the safety car to be a steamroller

well aside from the design elements, i think they had some interesting ideas, showing all practice sessions live ( assume not just streamed via web) and also 20 hours of documentry's on the engineering side, and 20 hours on the historical side, and also trying to do some educational stuff. could have been quite good, think i'd rather that than what were going to get with the bbc/sky.

Anyone else noticed this:

BBC story about the local TV services

Specifically this:

BBC Story said:
Some set-up costs will be paid for out of the licence fee — £40m was earmarked for local TV in the latest settlement with the BBC.

So F1 costs £45m and they can't afford it but they can splash out £40m on subsiding local TV channels which everyone seems to agree is going to be a total flop and only Jeremy Chunt actually wants.

I know where I'd rather have my license fee going.

I don't understand, aren't the bbc channels and ITV network channels already local?

Exactly. It's an utter waste of time. It's based on the American system which works in America because they don't have local arms of national news networks (and a much bigger country).

It's a waste of time and money and if they scrapped it we could have F1 back on the BBC.

hahaha you nearly owed me a new screen for that one !!!

Don't quite know how I managed to miss it, but I looked up this morning when leaving my flat and notice a massive satalite dish on the roof. Looks like I may be able to get Sky after all :)

How does this work from a Sky+ point of view though? My parents Sky+ needed 2 cables from the dish to the box. I would assume there is only 1 to my flat?

So you're going to pay the 400 odd quid for half the races? Brave man, I think I will end up doing it but am living in denial at the moment.
