Just read the Carl Froch SPOTY profile on BBC, and was surprised to find out he'd been on some celebrity gymnastics show this year. The youtube vids make it all look a pretty crap. I should imagine that sort of thing helps with the votes, though.

I am sure he will walk it, I would petition for him to be relisted in future as 'Swiss based' Lewis Hamiliton, instead of British Lewis Hamilton. If he isn't going to directly contribute to the country from his own pocket, call him British all you like for the awards, but lets not start his name with British every time he is mentioned in commentary. Don't respond with guff about the team and jobs etc, as they would be there with or without him. Rich people need to start paying their own way if they want to continue to claim support from their 'nation'.

If it goes on a combination of personality and success in a given sport then Ronnie O'Sullivan would get my vote. He's incredibly skilled at what he does and his mental attitude has changed so much.

TBH Hamiltons achievement doesn't even stand up against Lizzy Yarnolds. 4 years of build up and solo achievement against the best car that has ever been built in F1.
