The butthurt is strong in this thread haha

Glad he won, the sensible and correct decision was made! Well done Lewis

Of course it wasn't the sensible and correct decision unless you only watch F1 as a sport.

A f1 driver is less than 0.5% of the difference in lap time between the drivers. I love F1 but find it laughable that an f1 driver can beat a golfer who when he goes out it's all on him and his performance.

Oh dear...

Well done to Lewis TBH. It will always be the "car" with everybody here. The car is great and was great but Lewis did a great job, he drove the wheels of that car and despite god knows how many real reliability problems and being punted of by his team mate, he came through with a good points haul in the end.

Deserved and had i known about the odds i would have stuck a good amount on it tbh.

Hamilton was 11/2 about 10 mins ago. I knew he'd win, the public are idiots.

Well you need to be calling the bookies idiots. The public are the ones that actually get to decide, not the bookies.

Upsets do happen. I wonder what the margin of victory was. Also I reckon X Factor viewers switching over played a massive part.

I think what Rory has achieved is much harder.

Choosing a car over people who actually have achieved success by themselves and have a personality is the right choice? Like i said, idiot public.

I agree, idiot public of which you are clearly part of. Clearly not just about the car.

Why give it Mcilroy then? Only good because of his clubs, with Sports Direct clubs he'd win nothing.

To be fair, it still takes a great driver to win even in the best car. Nico had as good a car as Lewis. Put Max Chilton or Maldonaldo in Lewis' car and it's not guaranteed they'd win, in fact, they'd probably not do that well at all.

The car was so good if Lewis wasn't there Rosberg would have been world champion. That's how good the car was. Next to no one rates Rosberg and the car was the best of all time except the Mclaren of the 80's.

Only good because of his clubs? When he signed a new deal with Nike he had to use their equipment and sucked at first. He stuck in endless hours of practice to tailor his swing etc to the new equipment and it paid off. Winning in a field of 120+ not once but TWICE is a massive achievement. What's Hamilton done? Go a bit faster than Rosberg because all the other cars sucked.

Oh dear.

The difference is and I will go slowly, is only two people can drive that car. Anyone can use his clubs. My god.

People really underestimate F1. The drivers have to stay super fit, they don't just sit in a car. They have to know when to take risks with overtaking and when not to. They have to have razor sharp reactions and they are all risking their lives every second they drive at near on 200mph whether it's practise, qualifying or racing, more than almost any other sport other than the likes of skiing and other ice events.

It was a sarcastic statement, I was just highlighting that you can apply your logic for "it's only his car" to anyone if you really wanted to do so. Like him or not, he's had a fantastic year and in my opinion deserves this award, I'd have been happy with either of them winning

Glad hamilton won, well deserved. F1 drivers rarely do well on this.
Dunno they've done pretty well when there has been a contender. Lewis has been second in 07 and 08 and won this year, Jenson came 2nd in 09 when he won his world title.

Mansell and Hill both won it twice back in the day. F1 is pretty popular with the public.

Andy Murray won it last year and I think Rory's achievement is as good.

Lewis doesn't compare to either. He'll probably go on to win the F1 title next year. What will anyone have to do to top that?
