BBC to end Formula 1 television contract early

That articles Bull. Honda weren't without ERS totally, as the "163bhp down" claims suggest, they just ran out of deployment early on straights and couldn't charge it quick enough. If they were genuinely 223bhp down everywhere they would have never qualified within 107% at any race.

If true, and I'm not sure how good these journos are, any gains like that would be huge. I think McLaren have the most to gain out of all the other teams anyway - if we're in the top 5 on the grid at Melbourne that'd be immense.

FTFY. :D

Don't get me wrong, I'd like McLaren to get back up there. But I'd be shocked to see the Honda Rollerskate get close to Q3 this year unless one of Ferrari and the Toxic Sludge Factory implodes.

sorry not geek enough to understand ftfy lol.

What an odd position to take. If you applied it to other sports you'd probably never watch any of them at all either.

I think it's mainly as I was used to seeing everything live, same with six nations, where you can see it all. (I only watch Motorsports and rugby nationals)

I want to like f1 and that's the thing, throw more money at it and it goes downhill. I do understand its more business than sport, why I still post and read a bit every now and again.
But it's lost its sparkle.. Like not watching pre shows now, not really getting excited, it's more a Sunday evening filler than something I'm willing to sacrifice a Sunday out for (ie race mid day)

But f1 isn't like other sports, it's very progressive, momentum based, for me missing races live really breaks up the involvement. It's a personal thing

Every other league-based sport, where they compete over a series of events to accumulate points to determine the overall champion is the same.

Formula 1's coverage in the UK will have a new lead presenter, after Suzi Perry revealed she would not be moving from the BBC to Channel 4.

Perry has fronted the BBC's F1 coverage since 2013, having previously presented the channel's MotoGP broadcasts from 1997 until 2009.

Although a number of the BBC staff involved with F1 are moving to C4 to help its coverage, which is being co-ordinated by David Coulthard and Jake Humphrey's Whisper Productions company, Perry will not be moving across.

In a tweet on Friday night, she ruled herself out of both F1 on Channel 4 and any role in the revamped BBC Top Gear show.

C4 has not yet announced who will be presenting the show, but recent rumours have linked former X Factor USA and T4 presenter Steve Jones with the role.

Excellent, it isn't F1 otherwise!

I hope they give the presenting spot to Lee McKenzie. She knows her stuff, being a motorsport journalist by trade anyway, and used to be really good in the interviews on the BBC, plus fronted the FP sessions, so has experience presenting too.

For those without the luxury of a Sky F1 package how will you be watching the races that aren't going to be live on C4? Now TV sports passes look like they're about £6 on the bay. But that means missing quali unless you buy a week pass. :(

I just get a NowTV week pass for £10 from Game, instant email of code and a £ cheaper than getting it direct. Can watch it on any of my devices as well as TV too :)

Don't forget Sky Go on PC/mobile/console if you know someone with Sky F1 channel on their package.

Watch the extended highlights at the far more convenient evening time.

Much prefer highlights now.
Miss no action and don't have to watch the boring bits
Unfortunately I've seen lap counters jump 10plus laps with zero highlights many times
