BBC to show F1 from next year

This is brilliant news, now I just have to keep my fingers crossed they decide to stick it on BBC HD as well! That would be something.

Times have changed a lot since then, I think that the BBC will do a damn good job of it, they must realise how important good F1 coverage is and I'm sure they'll pull out all the stops.

I'm really really pleased about this, it's about time that F1 went back where it's supposed to be with no advert breaks.

I so hope they use The Chain as the theme again.

Now that would be incredible, but that's not going to happen now :(

I'm glad the BBC got the coverage deal for the simple fact that the adverts on ITV always used to come at the worst possible times, and just annoyed me. "Oh here's what you missed while we went to the break"

Otherwise I think ITV had honed a good formula, the grid walk being a good example of this. It would always be interesting to see the prep. before the races and the driver's who shunned Martin would always raise a smile.

Have they announced who's on board in relation to commentary yet?
 
Hopefully it will be available on BBC HD in the future, not like I have HD sky or a HD tv but for when I do :).
 
I don't mind the ads in ITV actually, they are never that long and it's rare that something does actually happen when its on a break, even if it is, I don't feel like I miss out as I thought I would when ITV first got it.
 
hope it's the same standard of coverage as ITV - i've never minded the adverts too much tbh - gives me chance to turn the kettle on, and by the time it's boiled another break comes on so I can make a cuppa :p

Exactly what I was going to post, people really seem to forget how bad F1 coverage on the BBC really was and just focus on the fact that there are no adverts. However, I'm still excited about this news, as long as they do it properly.
 
Good news indeed. I may actually start watching again. All we need now is Murray "There goes mansell" Walker :)

So with that theory F1 on the bbc is going to be crap due to no adverts :p

F1 HD would be nice as stated above, and is probably what started the move. It depends if Ecclestone's media empire has HD cameras though.

Amazing news. But lets hope they will ahve all the onboard gadgets, the streaming of practice and lets hope they expeand the technical knowledge even more. It should start an hour before the race and instead of rubbish interviews. Show me around the cars and the technology. Especially if manufacturers have added new bits on since last race.

No adverts WOOT..
