BBC Vs Sky - Who was best?

I think BBC was better. I got to a stage with Sky I only watched the race.
Commenting wise I think sky was better than the BBC. But not a great deal of difference.
But the BBC watched from the start to the end of forum.

Sky because they had all the races live.

BUT they have to learn to do something better with the rest of the time. It's no good having a 90 minute build up if you just have dullards talking or you have 5 slightly pointless montages or you tell us the championship 4 times. Get some decent items filmed to fill the time. Likewise the post race 90 minutes is often not good. The main incidents are covered in 5 minutes flat and the rest is more talk between the pundits.

The best bit post race is Ted's diary. Make that a longer item. I just hope they look back at all the shows and pick out the good and bad bits and ask the fans what worked and what didn't and change it. To be fair though, for a first season, it wasn't too bad.

Sky.

I only really watch from the grid walk to the podium and this part of the Sky coverage was far better than the BBC.

The pre and post race stuff varied wildly. BBC seemed to have more passion for what they were talking about, but slipped even more into Top Gear style presenting, and EJ is a ****. The Sky stuff was more professional but came across as dull, and Georgie was useless.

I don't like Brundle's grid walks anymore, I think David is getting much better at it and doing a better job.

As for the 'coverage' I assume you mean the commentators as they both use the same world feed don't they?

Yeah audio and in race pieces. Crofty, Martin and Ted were the best bits of the BBC race coverage team and Sky did well to secure them.

What Sky is missing is a charismatic passionate front man like Jake. Simon just doesn't cut it.

BBC by a country mile, was surprised how bad the stuff was on Sky, whilst the "mini Movies" the BBC put together where of much higher production quality.
Though their closing season movie was very well done.

Thing to remember is that this is only sky's first season, just think back to the bbc's first season and remember all the negative comments comparing them with itv.
Sky will get better, even though for me I thought it was brilliant anyway. All the practices, qualifying and race all in HD and dolby 5.1 absolutely superb.

BBC for all the pre/post stuff. Much more entertaining to watch.

Sky for the race. Although Crofty is annoying sometimes.

I feel MB's grid walk isn't as good as they used to be. Jake completely outclasses that gimp on Sky too. Not to mention JCB Thompson.

BBC.

As an engineer I prefer Gary over Ted (So no loss to the BBC for that one).

JH, EJ and DC work VERY well together and it is a shame that JH is going.

DC has more ties with the current drivers than MB does, that is for sure.

From the snippets of pre/post I've seen of sky, I definitely prefer the BBC content.

TV shouldn't be endlessly professional. I have to be professional at work and that is quite enough!!

I agree 100% on this one
