be* - and bad reviews?

I've got Be* at home. Internet service is excellent although I've found it is much improved by changing the BeBox to a DG834N. Wireless is far superior and connection is much more stable since. Can get an extra 1-2Mbps out of the connection too.

I've done exactly the same and noticed that result as well. Not to mention that the Netgear is easier to configure.

That's interesting, been toying with that change since I got the BEBox the other day.

Go for it..If anything you'll get some space back on your desk, as my BeBox was HUGE! :p

Is there some sort of FUP with Be* connections ? Or does it not apply to the £24/month Be Unlimited deal ?

I might need a new connection in a shared house for 4 people ... With a fair bit of downloads - both normal and P2P for updates, linux distros, assorted other crap.

Blame BT, not Be*. That kind of work would be done by a BT engineer as it's their hardware.

It's not necessarily either's fault (without knowing what's holding it up, you can't say it's definitely BT's), but it's Be's hardware not BT's. That's the whole point of LLU.

Be do have a FUP but they've said on the members forum that they hope they never have to inforce it. Be say as long as your not going nuts and your downloading doesn't effect the performance of other users connections they don't really have any issues.

Be are great

No FUP (well they do but have never had to use it)
1.3Meg upload
up to 24meg down
only £24

Support is good (Not the best)

Moving to Be was the best move I have made (Been with BT, Plusnet, IDNet and UKFSN)

Only had one problem and it was sorted very quick over the phone (Actually they phoned me back on my mobile)

I am with Pipex currently on a 1mb connection.

But my phone is unlikely to offer more than 2mb and the figures from my router indicates that it might already be close to the limits for 1mb. And Im currently only paying £12 or something like that.

If I thought that I had a real possibility of a speed increase (more than 2mb) with an increase in reliability of the connection as well, I would switch. As it stands, the connection is cheap (throttled to hell and back) and dont really want to mess with it.

An outage of 1month is just not worth it.

Did you have any trouble signing up? I signed up today but the when signing up online it wouldn't take my address so i had to do it over the phone. They sent me an e-mail with a link to click to set up my billing a finish the order. Problem is the link doesn't work! Tried in both IE and Firefox with no luck. Gave them a call and they say theres problems with the servers and to keep trying. He didn't seem to sure of what he was saying and it seemed a bit of a brush off. Ill keep trying till tomorrow and ill give them another call. Hopefully i haven't made the wrong decision in migrating from Zen!

I had trouble with the address too - you need to enter both house name and number. just put anything in name.

Ive just checked and my exchange has finally been enabled for Be, they very good from what ive heard, im gona stick with my UKFSN for now though as im not getting any probs, and always get great speeds, still least i know i can jump to Be if i start getting any, and im only on a monthly contract to so its no bother for me to switch. :)

Seems a bit stupid to me! I bet the majority of the country doesnt even have a house name just a bog standerd number in a certain street.

So did you have to click a link in an email to update your billing details or is that just because i did it over the phone?

My isp sent me a graph that showed that since I only get 3.5mb on an upto 8 mb connection, I will not get any benefit from adsl 2.0... anything in that?

care to post your line stats ?

your router should show line attenuatio and SNR (signal to noise ratio)

they're probably right, but it would be interesting to look all the same.

Found this on the Be forums -
