Be* - Not a good start, any advice?

Do you have another router that'll do ADSL2+ that you could try? Does it work again if you restart the router?
My experience with the BeBox is that it's utter rubbish, but if you haven't got anything else...

I agree bebox is rubbish, had two of them sent, on both, the wireless was tempremental at best, along with the third port for some reason(its the 4th one thats reserved before you ask)

Add me to the list of crappy bebox modem/routers. Mine would get so hot that I left something small on top of it, and it melted slightly into the top of it leaving a groove about 5cm long by 1cm wide and about 3mm deep.

That, and it wasn't very stable, constantly dropping the line or the wireless would stop working, but the Ethernet would be fine.

Got my self a nice shiny new netgear DG843GT router, runs very cool, doesn't drop the line, extremely stable, and I can get a higher sync with it. It went from about 21Mb/1.2Mb to 24.6Mb/1.4Mb with the netgear.

Well it looks like they may have fixed my issues *touch wood*. After going through the standard BS for the 7th time, the tech support guy realised the problem was their end and tried something. They screwed up the IP routing on my static IP address, so they shifted me to dynamic for the moment untill they can resolve it.

Rofl, just waiting on a power adapter to get my DG834GT into action, getting really fed up with my Be connection i get random spikes every 10seconds every evening when playing Counterstrike 1.6, i've checked my net graph it's fine then all of a sudden get Flushentity error's for 2secs then fine and then 10seconds later same thing. :@

I'm another who's ditched the Bebox for a DG834GT. I had no reliability issues as such, but it was a pig to configure and I get better synch speeds with the Netgear.

Just a quick question - it's been so long since I last logged into the member centre that I wasn't aware they now had profile settings there. Do these options get put into effect immediately, or does it still rely on someone picking it up and manually changing at Be's side?

It's automatic. You change the setting, get kicked off near instantly, then have to go back in and confirm that you really really want the change.

Yeah, someone at Thompson must have left or had a stroke or something - they turned from solid routers to garbage in a firmware upgrade.

Indeed, you can telnet in and get at QoS and all sorts of clever stuff that didnt' feature in the mainstream SOHO market for a good couple of years. Though back in the day it did cost me £140. Routers were a noveltly, people still swore by USB modems and ICS. Alas ADSL2+ is imminent and I shall have to retire it :( might just sit it as a DHCP server see how long it'll live.
