Bear Grylls fell 1500+ feet in a parachute accident, broke his back, then climbed Everest.
Ray Mears eats grubs.
And in a survival situation I'd go with Ray Mears as being the more likely of the two to actually help you get out alive.
And in a survival situation I'd go with Ray Mears as being the more likely of the two to actually help you get out alive. Bear Grylls' programmes are designed for the shock factor more than actual bushcraft from what I've seen but they are reasonably entertaining. I'm sure he knows his stuff but if he attempted some of the things he does for the show in a real survival situation he would more than likely end up dead.
still got to do the SAS training even for the TA...they dont let you in if you can't hack it
it may be a reservist outfit but you still have to be ready and trained for active duty
Na, dont agree. Ray Mears knows his stuff but I just dont think he could hack it.
who said he didnt? my comments were aimed that the people stating bear grylls is much more of a military orientated survival expert than Ray mears when in reality hes not.
A reservist regiment of the SAS. Does such a thing exist? Im a banker but if needed I can kill a man with a piece of paper.
And you are qualified in survival skills how exactly?!
Yep 21 and 23 regement SAS are both TA units who go through all the same selection and traning a full time SAS soldier would
Why, what part of the forces was Mears in?

LOLNo, it all happened in one morning. You should see what he got up to that afternoon!
He isn't and wasn't as far as I know but since he teaches the armed forces how to survive or has done I'd have to say he is pretty good.
If he knows his stuff (and we've agreed on that part) and is physically fit enough (an extra layer of fat is likely to help up to a certain point in a survival situation) then why would he not be able to hack it?
