Beards

I loved growing a bit of a beard over Christmas. I do like a good quality beard. Though I grew my first beard when I was 16! :D

I do find it a pain having to shave (I actually need to do it twice a day if I don't want any shadow) every day... I may try and convince the other half that a beard wouldn't be so bad...

Feel your pain!

I either need a few days growth or clean-shaven, all in-between is uncomfortable.

I could quite happily shave in the morning and in the evening and be fighting a losing battle (we're talking electric here - Braun 790cc).

I found that shaving as late as possible on the night provides the least irritation the next day. Although currently growing a beard, I'm liking the extra 30-40mins I accrue every day from not having to shave!

since 19 I have either long stubble/some form of facial hair
then 21-now (I'm 24) I've had a beard that's varied in length longest was probably about 2.5inchs off the chin, some people say you look like a tramp but then a lot of women find them utterly fantastic.

its all about beard maintenance. got to keep it brushed and looking beautiful. plus if you ever get confused or need to think about something one stroke of the face or twiddle of the tache and you've got your answer it gives you magical powers

I wish they would go out of fashion.

Have maintained a beard for about 5 years now, primarily due to not wishing to shave constantly. Keeps my cheeks and neck comfortably warm and helps prevent sunburn in summer, what's not to like?

Haven't been clean shaven in the best part of 10 years, I've been rocking a proper beard for about 3 of those.

I never know what to do with mine, I let it grow for a bit but once it gets into neck-beard territory I tend to shave it off (which makes me look about 5).

i have a beard due to lazyness, i probably shave every 3-5 weeks

This is definitely my style too, the laziness look :p

Had my beard for two and a bit years now, I can't see myself shaving it off to be honest. I'm quite fortunate as mine fills in all the right places and isn't patchy at all, feels good too :)

I've had a beard mostly from 25 or so onwards, mid length stubble from maybe 16-25. From 25 the beard was a bit patchy but fairly decent, would take quite a while to grow out and look somewhat full. Today it can grow out a heck of a lot quicker, be fuller and when I can be bothered, look neater.

It doesn't really grow in a controllable manor, bits grow in various stupid directions. So I generally just ignore it for a few weeks and when it gets too wild I hack it back to a relatively neat short beard then let it grow out again. As above it's more disliking shaving than wanting a beard, but I definitely prefer beard to no beard.

At some point I'll pick a length and shape and maintain it at that. I feel like at some point soon I need a full wet shave and grow it out from scratch and see if with some combing and a little effort it won't grow a bit neater.

Thinking about it I can't remotely recall the last time I had a full close shave, maybe not had a proper shave in 7-8 years.

I'm growing my beard out at the moment. Had stubble for about six months and since the start of the year I've let it go. It feels awesome.

Watch out for that beard dandruff though.

I've decided to grow one too, it does get a bit patchy and thin but I'm going to persevere! Not been clean shaven for years, even then it's usually with electric, can't stand razors.

Damn those who have short and thick beards :p

I usually let it grow all weekend then trim before work on Sunday night and then a mid-week trim, just to keep it even. Tends to grow much quicker on the upper lip and around the chin  Beards do seem to be quite popular at the moment, I swear I've seen a beard moisturiser being advertised.

Can't stand shaving. I just tend to use the shortest setting on a beard trimmer these days which is about 0.4mm and do that on a Sunday night. By Friday its somewhere between scruffy stubble and a beard so need to usually neaten it up mid week. Thankfully the missus doesn't mind too much.

Snap! Loving your timings :p I'm not doing it to be trendy, I just can't be arsed with shaving, but need it to at least look respectable.

Went on holiday about 4 years ago and forgot my razor. Had trimmed stubble ever since. It's great, my face used to flare up something rotten with a clean shave, and stubble hides my extra chins really well.

I'd love a decent beard but I just can't grow one, I hate shaving all the time so I try leave it and end up with quite a nice beard but it has a few bald patches. I can only assume the bald patches are from wearing a motorbike helmet for many years, the patches are in the places the straps rub.

@DJDaz
I can't believe you shaved it off for an interview, that must have left you feeling a little exposed... like turning up with no clothes on.

I rock/own the lazy 2 week beard look and I quite like the feeling of a barrier between me and the rest of the world.
I find it very liberating.

On another note, there was an Indian lad in my school that had a full proper beard at 14, I mean the kid could have starred in 300.
He was also about 6'5'' and 15 stone with mahoosive shoulders so nobody really said anything.
