ok guys as of recently i've been getting quite a few disconnects with my Be line and lagging out in games aswell as during general web surfing.

my question is will a change in router stop this or is it my Be line causing the problem?

Attenuation, SNR margin and the speed your Bebox is connected at would be a start, and they should be shown in the router's web interface.

I'm not using the bebox anymore so i hope this will help you as i'm a bit rusty on what the interface looks like.

1) Login to the router
2) Goto the connection tab, you'll see 3 different bits of information (bridge, video and something i think)
3) Scroll through the different types of connections that it provides until you find something that looks like your connection, such as the speed your connected at. Use the detail link at the top of the screen to get more info, it'll help you find the right data.

Hope that helps, as i said i really can't remember the interface lol.

ahh sorry was being very dumb here it is folks (bit strange as i was sync'd at 14901 down the other day) with fastpath off:

Have you tried Fastpath? Your connection looks pretty good and i would put the disconnections down to the Bebox, are there many of you using the internet at once? What games do you play? Source based games lag out using the Bebox but that can be fixed.

If you want to move to a new router than i'd suggest the DG834GT as the wireless is much better than the Bebox and the latest firmware brings in some great stability to Be users. Fastpath also works perfectly with the new firmware so you'll be syncing closer to 17mb i would expect with the netgear :)

Hope that helps

hmm could be a lot easier route if i got the netgear :), i play cs 1.6 which is where i mainly find the disconnects but also experience it during web surfing and gerneral internet use.

i have tried fastpath and experienced the same problems so i can't put it down to that :(

Your SNR margin isn't that great (not that it's bad either, it's bang on the default target SNR margin that Be set) - if it fluctuates much it could be the cause of the problem too (though I thought Be had Seamless Rate Adaption enabled), especially if you've lost 1000kbps from your sync rate.

For starters, keep an eye on the SNR margin and see if it fluctuates much - that would be easier if the BeBox supported SNMP (and I dunno if it does).

I know that be do support Seemless rate adaption as i use it through my router. Many people complain about the Bebox though and most experience the same problem as you, if you're unsure on the change then get the netgear from a shop that will allow you to return if you're not happy. Then at least you know which is better and what you would prefer to keep with.

I think they sell the PN version (for one hell of a stupid price), but meh if you can return it once you know it all works and then order from OcUK then everything is all good :)

Just the usual network setup really and then update to the latest firmware from the netgear site. If you think its done its job for you then after that maybe flash to a third party software such as UberGT, you'll be able to start changin your SNR margin then to see if you can squeeze any extra out of your connection :)

Yeah just goto the router upgrade page and select the file, after about 5 mins its done :)

Just do it through a cable and not wireless

my bobox kept d/c, well would stop me loading sites, but msn etc would still stay connected, only after a reboot would everything be ok again, would happen about once an hour

yesterday installed my new netgear dg834g that i got for £22 from ebay :D and not had a problem since

just follow the instructions on the be forum on how to setup your own router
