Have UK supermarkets stopped selling their own brand ones since the Horse meat fiasco ?

I am always partial to having some cheap ground meat/fat/sinew/fillers in my mouth but was shocked today to find a distinct lack of said product on both the shelf and on supermarkets home delivery websites.

Yours sincerely

Efour :confused::(

Make your own.

My mum makes great beef burgers from the beef cut known as the Chuck,(Front Shoulder) & coarsely minces it.:)

Some people mince & mix two or three cuts together, I prefer the meat from a tradional butcher, makes superior burger, compared to the supermarket meat.

Can she make some for me...?? Minimum 40% meat. thx :p
I do make my own sometimes but the fibrous texture of real meat isn't right... It has to be gelatinous reconstituted meat pulp. :(

450g mince
1/2 tin red kidney beans
Finely chopped spring onions
Handful of dried breadcrumbs
Salt pepper

Combine and press into patties refrigerate for couple of hours and bbq over medium heat turning ONLY once

I do even less than that, Macca.

Good quality minced beef, lots of salt (it binds the meat) and some pepper. Mix it all up and let them sit for an hour. They will not break apart. Heston trick.

In fact, I had some tonight!

Solution, borrow a friends cash n carry card and buy a box of the f o great big burgers they sell from the takeaway vans, damn things are the size of my open hand and don't shrink when you cook them either!

Simples :D

Home made burgers are well worth the (very small) effort required to make them.

Talking of burgers, every single burger I eat in a bar/restaurant in Vancouver is incredible.
