Beef Burgers....

I never got why there was so much fuss over the whole 'horse-meat in beef' thing.

Horse meat is perfectly edible and based on a web-search, Horse mince is over £3 MORE per kilo so people were getting better value.

I've eaten horse and it's not much different to cow tbh.

However I used to go to my local butcher for "mainstream" meats but since the "scandal" he's lost my custom for how he handled it. He bought a banner stating "Only fools eat horses".

I made it a point to go in and let him know that I wouldn't be supporting his business any more if that's what he thought of his loyal customers. (the banner disappeared the following day)

I like horse meat - however it's the principle and legality and moral aspect that is the issue. As well as the food standards not being adhered to and the fact that the meat wasn't traceable. Then you have to ask yourself, if they're mixing it with horse, what other standards are they ignoring? What else are they adding to the meat?

Only lean steak mince press and make into a pattie then season both sides and fry in a frying pan. I put a lid on after the inital browning as it seems to steam it slightly and keep it succelent. Hugh's recipe.

:D i Am planning a special trip there to stock up, if i get a chance, next week!!!

I did that the other week. I got a pack each of the Chinese Pork, Mexican Chilli and Indian lamb Quarter-pound burgers that they're doing. The Chinese pork are not too bad, not tried the others yet.

Yes.. :p

If i wanted a burger recipe discussion :(:( this would have been in the cooking section, you monsters. :p

Looks like your post is there now... So I'm allowed to post tons of burger recipes, right? :p

Personally I quite like Sainsbury's own brand fresh burgers (the TTD ones with 'garden herbs' were especially awesome but they seem to have stopped making them).

As has been said though, it is super easy to make your own. The simplest and imo one of the best recipes has already been posted - mince meat, salt, shape into patty, cook. It's actually easier than dealing with the rank frozen burgers as you don't have to deal with that annoying grease-proof paper that sometimes sticks ;)

Always been loads in Tesco when I've been.

4 for £3
10 for £5
Two packs for £4 on the Tesco Finest or something like that.

All good stuff.

I get my mince from Donald Russell when on offer.

I have a burger press, nothing but the mince to shape them, then a liberal amount of steak rub and some oil, then on the hot grill pan it goes.

Home made burgers which do not contain chopped coriander have no place in my world.

Utter lies.

Burgers are prime for experimenting and lots of different flavours.
If you have your burgers the same every time, you're wasting life.

Get a juicy Lucy down you, or a half burger half onion, or a blow your head of chili burger, or a lamb and feta burger, etc etc etc.
Or plain burger and experiment with toppings.
