RTX 2080 looks like a certainty now going on that video and will certainly be unveiled on the 20th.... colour me interested.

44 seconds on the video.
..
RTX at the start (RoyTex)
and not_11 = gimmie 20 (so not 11 series but 20 series)

then45 seconds.

Mac-20 is talking to Eight Tee

definitely then the new gpu is called RTX 2080

and the vid ends with cologne 20 August.

I too was in the 11x camp, because that is a logical name. jumping to 20 is stupid imo.... for gaming it is not like the card will be twice as good (going from 10 to 20)... i suppose it *may* be twice as expensive but that is not worth bragging about ;)

I don't care what they name it, as long as it's not hideously expensive. It's Nvidia, of course it'll be expensive.

honestly i can even handle it being expensive................. so long is it "good".

ie, if it is revolutionary performance for games, a good 20% faster than a 1080ti, but with VR link and running nice and quiet , I could live with an increase in RRP (so long as they do not go mad - lets say £750 with a decent game)

on the other hand if it is just 5-10% faster than the 1080ti but with VR link and it running nice and quiet and the potential for improvements down the line as drivers mature, and a price not much more than the 1080 standard card that it is replacing, i can live with that as well (lets say £600 with a game).

however what will cheese me off, and is what i am expecting, is a card which costs more than a 1080ti, AND barely outperforms it, so basically a double stick with no carrot.

IF that happens...... i am going to try and wait a bit, however i admit i will likely cave anyway as i am getting pretty desperate for an upgrade

It may indeed be 2080, but it won't be RTX, it will be GTX. The blurry box in the video indicates that much.

NVIDIAs money making stratagems will override any logic in a naming scheme.

Well yes, even more reason why they wouldn't risk confusion with an established branding strategem, namely GTX which is synonomous with gaming GPUs. It would cause utter confusion amongst many to suddenly change that to RTX, whilst sharing that with a $10K card that is for a compeletely different sector of the market.

The internet seems to get stupider by the day. All I've been reading today is how excited people are about the impending announcement of an RTX 2080 Turing gaming GPU that wil have raytracing. Errr, no.

Nvidia has made many stupid mistakes, calling it RTX will just be another one.

I think it will be called RTX.

This is from the Kitguru article, and it's CLEARLY a 'G' not an 'R'. Now of course some will question whether this is an actual 1180/2080 box, but there's every reason to think it could be. It's not like they won't have the boxes made up and ready.

Don't get me wrong I hope it's still called GTX, but I would think Nv would think of this as a new step. Just my opinion though. I hope I'm wrong.

Those 'Big Format Gaming Displays' are an absolute joke.

I bought a 65" LG OLED B6 TV in 2016 for £2400.

Yeah it might not have G-sync and 120hz - But the picture quality is so superior to any LED 'BFGD' TV/monitor that they are due to release. Pure blacks, great HDR etc.

And as on 2019, the next batch of TV's should support HDMI 2.1 which will natively support 4k@120hz and support variable sync technology anyway.

Literally the only thing I can think of where a BFGD monitor might be better is if you think that 20-25ms is too much lag and need something with sub 10ms.

Me....I wouldn't notice.

Well next year when hdmi 2.1 comes out you will have 120hz 4k oleds with lower input lag and vrr.

So really no place for these big format nvidia screens.
