Not so.
It's simple to view all the IP addreses associated with an AP without connecting. It's also very simple to get the WPA key. But cracking or decoding the key can be hard if it's not a word that can be found in a dictionary. Use any common word, no matter what its length and it can take seconds to guess. So use a phrase that isn't a word and you'll be fine. Change it at regular intervals too.
