Belgian Grand Prix 2015, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 11/19

So McLaren are going to take 3 10 sec stop/go penalties and about 5 drive throughs with those grid penalties too then? Isn't that what happens if they don't qualify high enough?

Not any more, they dropped those. They just start at the back instead.
Which they kind of do anyway at the moment.

Apparently, they're looking at changing power units again tomorrow, so another ~25 place penalty could be due.

20 cars on the grid.
Maximum allowed is 26 cars.
Alonso has a THIRTY place penalty.

How is that at all sensible? They're just extracting the urine now. They've used double the allowed number of power units now and they're just being sent to the back of the grid? Start taking constructors points away. For the race where you change the power unit, you don't get any constructors points, AND you start from the back.

now the rules have changed, they're basically taking everything they can this race, to give them enough engines or less penalties towards the end of the season where they might be challenging for a point or 2.

Once you hit the back of the grid, The rest of the positions should be deducted in constructors points

The FIA rightly shy away from deducting points as penalties as its massively inconsistent in its impact from one end of the grid to the other.

Plus you need to avoid a situation where its better for a team to simply not bother to race.

and penalties should only affect that race. sounds like a terrible idea. just like the old rule of transferring it to the next race.

I don't have high hopes for McHonda at Spa, the circuit is far too power based for them to have a good shot to be honest.

Red Bull looked surprising in practice, with Ferrari looking a bit behind, I hope that isn't the case though, as a little bit of me would love Vettel to have a WDC shot.

That's what you get when racing weekends become test sessions, when else are they meant to do this?

3 tokens used, 3 laps completed across both cars (FP3).

Well played Honda!

Don't know what you're talking about, they finished one entire race in a row on a single new Canada spec engine, as they say reliability is now fixed... obviously. I mean that the older spec engine both broke down loads but finished several races is neither here or there. By that reasoning the old spec engine finished the Australian race.... thus reliability was proven? The multiple failures after that apparently don't matter, if one engine finishes one race, reliability is fine.

Everything out of Honda and Mclaren this year has been utter bull, didn't believe them last year talking up this year, didn't believe them during preseason that they would be great by spain and podiums by midseason, wins by the end. They've reached the "it's not my fault it's yours" stage with Honda randomly saying now that the engine is better than Renault it's only the chassis making it look so much worse which is the equivalent of saying Mclaren haven't got the faintest idea how to build a chassis.
