It's called changeable conditions and his car settings and downforce levels are not exactly the same as those around him.

That's true, but it was starting to rain a little before that and he changed directions sharply when coming out of the slipstream, this isn't Mario Cart so surely he should have known better

Yes like MS he's crap under pressure. I said this multiple times last year. A car 1 second faster than the rest at the front he looks good. Add some pressure and he folds faster than MS at the start of title decider
