Belgium Grand Prix 2013, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 11/19

Great pole from Lewis, would have been nice to see it not dry out though.
In hindsight playing it slow coming out at the end worked out nicely, but at the start of Q3 I thought Di Resta was a genius and Massa was the only other sane ish person. I was baffled why as the weather was getting worse no-one was rushing back out. Clearly they knew the weather was going to pick up!

They weren't waiting for better weather, and though I may have been thinking about Q2, I think it was Vettel/Hamilton taking the longest to come out.

Either way they weren't waiting, they have to get wheeled into the pits to refuel. They all went out for one qualy lap in the dry before it got wet so they all likely went with minimum fuel, refueling takes time and with 8 guys coming in there is a little quick maths to do to work out best timing to leave for being over the line last, which Merc and unsurprisingly Red Bull got right.

The delay and refueling obviously helped them and my guess is Massa was out so fast as he had gone for a different strategy so did a normal pitstop for tyres and shot out while everyone else had to get enough fuel to last the rest of the session. Refueling is slow and not allowed in pitlane.

Nicely done Hamilton, got pole for the 4th consecutive time. That Mercedes is really starting to look good. Hopefully Hamilton can win the race proper tomorrow, would love to see him overtake Vettel and win the drivers championship this season.

Brilliant Pic.

What a Qualifying Session. The best of the year ! My heart was going like the clappers in Q1/Q2 and Q3 !

Really exciting in Q3, the Ardennes Micro Weather System did an exceptional job today. Great pole for Hamilton, really though Di Resta was getting pole, he would have if the rain had stayed consistent maybe!

Brilliant result from Jenson, extracting the maximum again. Also I think (and hope) that Whitmarsh was pushing the team really hard for a wet race set up as I heard in Q1 that the team were divided on which way to go. If we have set up for wet race trim tomorrow we could have a brilliant race from P6.

Can't wait for tomorrow! :D

Interesting, someone has pointed out that Lewis had all four tyres off the track at the top of Eau Rouge on his pole lap.

They were all doing it all weekend so far at Stavelot as well... makes me wonder why Grosjean got punished for his move on Massa at the last race then.

.... Where's the consistency?
