Benefits cheats - do you know any?

What if they're single ethan?

I would imagine a single person would be ok depending on savings etc as I would expect them to have to migrate on to the ESA (income based benefit which is means tested). You cannot support yourself if you are single and genuinely unable to work and should not be expected to do so.

I neglected to say that if an individual is in the support group then they would continue to get their contribution ESA. if you are in the WRAG (as its called) then you would be required to have your income and that of your partner reassessed prior to migration to income ESA. I think that is how it works.

I did know people, at the time I never thought it was wrong. They were mostly honest people and were in desperate times, they did what they needed to do to survivie.

If it wasn't for doing so I reckon they would've been homeless/bankrupt.

Same.

Seems many here either bandwagon jump a lot or just don't realise it from the comfort of their armchair and heated room that many people just barely eek by and many many times its really not their fault.
Luckily i had a comfortable upbringing and will never struggle for money or shelter (about 15 people have to die or go bankrupt before that happens!) plus work a decent job, i consider myself lucky as many associates and friends aren't.

Simple answer: yes.

I didn't know there was any sort of system in place to report people but I will look into it now.

The person in question is claiming disability benefits and whatever else, parading 'back problems' and shortened nerves in his legs as reasons he is unable to work. Yet he is fully capable of riding a bike, pulling wheelies/bunnyhops, and can walk a fair distance to the local ASDA when it suits him.

I do, but i'm not a grass. Doesn't mean i'm happy about it, but they have young children and need the money to survive.

i don't know any benefit cheats, however i know plenty of thieving scum who think its ok to download pirate films and music.

What about in cases where the music is not available to purchase (comparable to abandonware) or due to it's rarity in both physical and digital form, is extremely expensive?

There's a difference. Lewis is exploiting a loophole. Questionable, yes. Illegal, no.

Benefit cheats are breaking the law.

They're not moral laws though, they're made up financial laws that can be changed at any moment and probably will be. The question in the OP isn't whether it's illegal or not it's whether you THINK one should turn a blind eye.

Being a benefit cheat doesn't impact anything or anyone when compared to companies such as Amazon and Vodaphone who don't pay tax on their operations in the UK, this to me means it's not a moral issue and it's simply up to the people that are getting stolen from, HMRC, to claim it back.

If i decide to give £10 notes to all people born on the 5th of May the onus is on me to check their birthdays, not hope that other people will inform me about other people that are lying.

now change the word music into car. would you steal it then?

I'm not going to descend into a massive argument over piracy, but digital goods are different. I don't pirate them (as evident by my Steam library) but this image pretty much sums up the situation of 'stealing' digital goods.

If you can't afford it, don't buy it! Simples!

Maybe you said that wrong, if you couldn't afford it, you wouldn't be able to buy it :p.

I still do not get why they tell you it's illegal to pirate films on a film you have legally bought :/

makes no sense.

so if i make a copy of all of your bank account details all of your photos anything digital that belongs to "you" then thats ok, because its only copying? and then what if i pass it around? maybe sell it to the highest bidder?

No it's not okay, but there's nothing I can do about it. If I uploaded say, an edited photo, and someone took it and sold it, sure I would be majorly ****ed off, but I wouldn't state it as stealing. Just as monetization of someone else's assets that I wouldn't have sold anyway.

Doesn't everyone here pay cash to tradesman to get a job cheaper when we all know they will be dodging tax and vat, also lowering their claimed income thereby allowing them to claim benefits possibly.

So no I wouldn't report any one when I'm happy to use the system when it suits me.

Why do they 'need' money above and beyond what they're entitled to ligtimatly.
