Benifets to be a pirate gamer :(

Even pirates should support the good games too, not just the legit players. The pirates who make money off their illegal activitys i would love to see arrested.

most pirates dont do it for profit though, just look at the people who actually hack the games they are people like all of us, some would say they are crazy, but dont we help people on here and in "real" life and why? because you get a buzz and i suppose because of the status.

The only people who make money from that sort of pirating are the in game advertising companies.

The *Groups* do it for the E Rep and the healthy competition to see who can get the first copy out or whatever, many actually support the ethos of

"If you enjoy the game, buy it"

Could be worse, you could have to pirate games you've just bought so that you can play them, because your prefectly legal retail version has draconian anti-piracy software that refuses to let you play. Alas it's something i've had happen several times now. Bioshock being the most recent case.

I wouldnt have thought rapidshare would be usefull for pirates, as it only takes 1 person to report the file, and it gets taken down. Where as a decent torrent will max out a persons connection, and be much harder, if not impossible for anyone to take it down. Same with usenet.

You're right about links being taken down. You have about 5 sets of links for the same game/program on the big warez sites though so it's rarely an issue.

There's been very few instances where a torrent has used up all my bandwidth. Seed to leech ratios are usually stupid.

Thats why I don't use rapidshare for anything, they delete files at the first complaint without even examining the contents, why people pay and support an incompetent company like that I will never know, it brings down the standard of the industry as a whole, just like ea. Other free file sharing websites offer no download limits, multiple maxed out connections and no waiting times, rapidshare is just so far behind in comparison.

I fully appreciate that it is against the law, however I don't place it anywhere worse than buying a game second hand.

Exactly, 2nd hand game shops are basically one large torrent site that gets paid and is legal.

But there days are numbered with Steam and when Microsoft start offering games to download.

It is a crazy world when the pirate version of a product is better quality then the genuine copy. My main annoyance is PC games that make you put the disk in to play the game! It's worth just getting it pirated to not have to put up with that alone.

You can still purcahase the game and apply the patch though. :)

Erm, you can use no-CD patches on legal versions too.

Edit: Dammit Slyface.
