Benitez sacked!

If he's gone, which is looking likely then the chances of Torres leaving will be far greater. There's a lot of rubbish wrote in the papers and the likes of Torres, Masch and Reina, who are the future of our side are incredibly loyal to Benitez.

As I said in the other thread, if this is true and he's going before the club is sold then this could set us back a couple of seasons.
 
Finally! He was long overdue a sacking, like you said. Who d'you reckon Liverpool will try and get? Roy Hodgson will be a strong contender, I reckon...
 
If he walks with only a £3mil pay off Liverpool will have been let off cheap.

They probably should have called up a few clubs like Inter/Juve and told them there wouldn't need to be any compensation if they wanted to get Benitez.

Surely if Benitez leaves he'll get nothing, while firing him, he'll end up somewhere like Inter/Juve anyway and Liverpool will pay a bundle to get rid of him.

A managerless club could be more sellable as owners can/do have "prefered" managers they'd prefer to bring in and to prospective owners a manager they don't want who would cost £16mil to get rid of is an expensive extra in the deal.

Who in their right mind would take over at a club in the situation Liverpool are in?

We'll end up with a caretaker manager until the club is sold, most likely end up losing several key players and replacing them with cheap alternatives as the club wouldn't want to give any caretaker a significant amount to spend (not that they'd give it to any permanent manager either).
 
I have to admit, i'm taking this with a pinch of salt until I see it confirmed in other places.
 
to be fair, i hope the americans leave liverpool and they get decent but not mega owners in. while i don't ever want you to win anything I don't want anyone to be screwed over as they seem to be doing to you currently.

As terrible as it sounds, part of me wants us to go down the pan so they lose all their personal guarantees on the loans.

I could be really really ruthless here BaZ but I really think that is the wrong attitude to have. My take on it (for what it's worth looking as an outsider in) All the old school from Shankly through Busby then Paisley upto Fergie have always said no man is bigger than the club so why is Rafa getting special dispensation.

Yes the American owners are culpable in the demise of Liverpool, when you compare the very high standards they have set for themselves and others to follow over the years.

However when you here comments from LFC fans hoping Rafa takes the Yanks for the full amount of his contract, it certainly won't be from the owners pockets it will be funded, it will be from the club. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.

In as much Gillette & Hicks are bad for the long term success of LFC the same way the Glazers are for us, Liverpool fans can no longer stick with the cult of Rafa BS. He has underperformed given the resources that many many many clubs would only dream of. Be that finances, staff, facilities, fan base or history.
