What stores even carried these monitors at that time? Just out of interest. High street stores are usually the last place to get new tech in my experience. (worked in comet).

Well I'm glad you've managed to trawl through all of that and pick out some good points from everyone to help you out. This thread is a good case in point of how some animosity can lead to further animosity and it is never constructive. I have gathered a lot of feedback from users of the SA950 and SA750 series of monitors who really resonate the opinion of 'Dan_the_man'. Generally the more they use it the more they like it. There are always some people who won't be able to accept the limitations of the TN panel technology and for them this decision is always more difficult. I suppose in a way you are in a fortunate position from what you said earlier about being able to control your lighting properly - it means you can enjoy the clear benefits (pun intended) of the Samsung's Ultra Clear Panel without significant drawbacks.
Panacakesniffer, have you tried playing games in 1024*768 on the benq yet? If not, do you think you could do me a favour and try it out? Just want a brief idea of how good/bad it will look!! Thanks!
I went to the ***** where my friend works and just looked around for a few hours to help decide which monitor I wanted before spending £300..... I was allowed to change a few settings on the monitors and play Serious Sam and nfs shift on them which are quite fast paced games and did for pretty long....
If you dont value my opinion or anything I say about my experience then ok thats fine.... But for someone to tell me that I am wrong (which is impossible because someone opinion cant be wrong) and Im not allowed to share it because im pulling false information out of thin air and talking BS (I dont understand how I just shared my opinion) and that I am not allowed or qualified to do so is absurd in all honesty, specialy when they themselves havent even seen the monitor, but regardless all I did was share my opinion and advcie based on my experience... that is it, didnt say anything wrong or give false numbers or any infact, just my opinion.

They have the Acer too, the BenQ got replaced with the old one the day I went to have a look and is one reason I went there to have a look at all of them as my friend let me know about it and didnt want me to get a 27" lol.
They did only have the 3 120hz though, but were all next to eachother to check out.
Ok, thanks for that, it's good to have friends working in these places!! I am still not sure how good a test you could give three monitors on three pc's. Not doubting you, just my opinion. It takes me at least a couple of days before I know enough about the monitor and it's settings to know if I like it or not. And I would need to play a multiplayer FPS game before I could say for definate about response time.
How are you finding it now that you have it at home? Have you played CS:S on it?
As for the last part of your post, do I value your opinions, well I value everyones opinion, good or bad. Subjective or not. And no matter how someone offends you on a forum you should try not to react. It's hard I know, but trust me, you will have a much better internet experience
I would always compare something in store if you can instead of just ordering it over the internet, like a pair of trainers, its best to try them on to see how they fit for you instead of blindly buying them online. Doesnt often work out liek that with computer parts thoughHoly smoke. I think I'll get along to my local tonight.
Do you have any idea when you will be getting one?
**** have the Samsung, BenQ etc? Wow, mine wouldn't even know what they were I don't think.
(personally I think making the darker areas lighter is a bit lame as I prefer to play on a calibrated set myself and don't really tend to struggle with dark areas but that's just me)
