Best 4k 43" max tv

So would you think this years model is worth the extra £350 ?

very subjective point.

like i said it depends how long your planning to keep the tv for and how much value you associate to £350.

me personally, I would say no. It's 50% more for less than even 20% improvement. However if your the type of person that buys a tv once every 10+ years. Then it's probably worth going for the newer set as you should get the best you can afford in that sort of situation. if you upgrade regularly then get the best bang for buck.

Well like i said earlier...i initial 4k tv was a temp buy as it was so cheap. Its nearly 2 years old now. My normal change path is about 4 years. Im wondering if the sonys would give me a better picture.

There seem quite a few refs that suggest xd8's are 8 bit too here and here
I do not see that as a bad thing, so equally there are the new 8 bit panasonic ex700's available in 40" ?

I have a 42" 1080p panasonic ips, and want to remain ~40" but the dilema is that the sweet spot for 4k screens seems now 55" to get a 10bit/120hz panel,
I am not convinced folks want pc screens at 42" either, so do not see market will build new ~40 inchers (especially no oleds)

what do you have now ? since have not seen any ~40" 4k's I would switch too, so will probably run it into the ground.

missed that
Atm i have a Samsung ue40ju6550u 4k tv which ive had coming up about 2 years now. I only pais £408 new at the time. But im hoping picture quality would have got better since. Only real issue i have with current tv is motion blur
with size limitation I am not convinced you will improve much on your existing one - technology improvements being directed to bigger sets
- ironically ju7100 from same year as yours seems maybe last 120hz ~40" panels and might have improved motion issue ... change your room layout to accomodate a bigger set.

cant do anything with room. just got the "change tv " bug tho

do panasonic even make their own panels anymore? i think they are much like sony nowadays. they may still make a small selection of panels themselves.

panasonic isn't that great any more. they used to be but they haven't had a top tv in years. my ranking is samsung = lg > sony > panasonic.

also most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a really good tv and a half decent one tbh.

if i put the average person in a room with 10 tv's ranging from £500-£3000. i doubt they could correctly order them in terms of picture quality.

it's so close these days it's not worth worrying about. unless you know what to look for and have owned plasmas in the past.

I believe ex panel is innolux and only 50hz (so won't fix motion issues) and is VA not ips (like older 120hz Pan I use) so won't have good viewing angles, ,maybe 8 bit too.

using someone else panel is not necessarily bad - panasonic with their electronics will probably make a better fist of the LG oled panels (indeed maybe they are
sold the top end of the production)
