Yeah it seems the 7950 Vapor-X is voltage locked - at least the one I have is.
So anyone who buys one should be wary of this.
I asked Sapphire about it and got this as a reply:
"Dear Sir:
We recommend you use CCC of power control function."

Are you going to RMA/DSR it like the last one then?
Nope; it's still far better than the last one I had.
If this review is anything to go by, any bottleneck wont be noticeable unless you are staring at the fps counter and even then it's very slight. Overclock it and you are laughing. I should add that it will be game dependent.

Thanks Cutshaw, I'm not too bothered about massive fps, just as long as the bottleneck isn't preventing games from running smooth.
How is it far better if it is voltage locked because your max oc is limited now, or do you mean it is quieter?

Slight disappointment for me as I noticed last night that Afterburner max core setting is 1100 with my TF3.
Real shame because I think it would hit 1200 with a touch more voltage (although I suppose I don't really need that).

Try this - it lets me go to 1200
I got it wrong, it actually increases my max clock to 1710

I've tried this and there is no difference to using Sapphire Trixx.. only positive for me is that i can do it all via one program now

Good Grief.... Don't run clocks that high.
Unlocking xtreme volts / clocks in MSI Afterburner is for those who bench on liquid nitrogen
For every day use keep the extreme volts / clocks locked and use the standard overclocking. using extreme will fry your card in weeks or days.
1200Mhz is about the most you should run for every day use, if you can't get that on the voltage adjustments you have without unlocking xtreme then your not going to have 1200Mhz.

I will have a look, I'm interested to see if my card can run at 1200 core with a max of 1.2 volts but if not 1100 makes the card 'very' capable in games I play
