BEST ADVENTURE GAMES - RECOMMEND LIST

I haven't played this one yet but it's had some good reviews, seems to have captured the spirit of the old Broken Sword games. Very polished apparently with nice graphics. Only a tenner on Amazon.

i was really looking forward to Broken Sword 2.5, but the voice acting is awful. It was to be expected, but they could have made a bit more of an effort with George at least.

I played it. It's not bad. Fairly simple puzzles, and average dialogue with not very funny lines. Not funny like broken sword or gabriel knight 3 anyway. But good fun nonetheless. You should also try Secret Files Tunguska and Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis, both by the same devs, and better.

I'm not a great adventure fan, in fact apart from brief bashes of Day Of The Tentacle, Maniac Mansion, and Zak Macracken I just don't enjoy them very much. The graphics usually just spoil the stories for me.

BUT I'm always up for a game from Infocom. No other adventure games, and I mean absolutely none of them beat the Infocom adventures, each and every one of them is a gem. And my absolute favourite of these: Suspended. For me the best adventure game ever!

The original game came with a map and a bunch of six counters representing those insanely single-minded robots, so that you could keep track of exactly where they were. Closest I've come to experiencing a real-life book story (if that makes sense).

Does anyone else remember Infocom?

This thread kinda looks like my games rack, Sherlock, Black Mirror, Syberia and many more. I think the Syberia games are my all time favourites, though for horror Scratches is great, also the 'Darkness Within' games are pretty good. 'Barrow Hill' is also interesting for horror though the first time I got killed by a moving standing stone I kind of cracked up at the unlikeliness. May I also mention the 'Art of Murder' series, not wonderful but they are quite a fun way to pass a few hours.

I will second blade runner, LOVED the film and thankfully the game was good too!

14 endings if my memory serves me right, I only got about 6 myself.

Grim Fandango gets my vote for best adventure game of all time though. Check it out.

Thanks OP for the thread. I was looking forward to some more adventure games as there is hardly mention of them.

I think the next thread by any one should be about fighting/beat'em up games. Apart from street fighter 4 where are the rest:(? Long gone are the days when there used to be plenty of fighting games:(.

That's why I miss the classic games so much.

This should be tidied up and stickied, adventure games were and are one of the most important genres on the PC imo.

Maybe a "Vintage PC classics" sticky.

Na they wont do that because it appeals only to those who enjoy adventures rather than a wide audience :(. Vintage Pc Classics could be good but then that would also fit with GOG as that has classics.

Will just stick with this thread and non sticky i think
