Best air cooler AM4?

What case is that in?

Also are your fans running at 2000rpm for those temps?

I have a U12A and have been very impressed with the performance for its size but I can’t get anywhere near that score with those temps but I’d say it’s likely my case (define 7 XL)
Fractal torrent. I can get better scores than these,, the above are stock with a temperature limit, 85c for CBR23 and 95c for ycruncher. Without a temp limit and some ocing i get 49s on ycruncher and 42k+ on CBR23. Don't remember the exact numbers since I dont have the 13900k anymore

Α new test by hwcanucks, he basically added every high end cooler im aware off in his test suite (jonsbo, fc140 , assassin 3 etc.)

no Noctua U14s though which is annoying. It also doesn't state what fan combos they're using which would be useful to know. Eg are they running everything at stock supply as some units ship with 1 bundled fan but the option to add more.

Noctua's NH-D15 successor, originally shown in 2018 and scheduled for release in 2019, has once again been pushed back on their roadmap to 2024. I know they want to release the best product possible but to delay it for this long is starting to look like incompetence now. They can only rely on their brand name for so long before people catch up with reality and realise they can get better coolers for a third of the price.

Probably reaching the limit of air cooling and struggling to show an improvement worth the extra cash.

if i had to buy a cooler now id get the peerless assassin 120:

value for money cant be beat for 38 quid inc post.
This. I got one. A little overkill at the moment for my cpu (2600x) but will be upgrading shortly..
I don't see any temps over 50c even when running benchmarks

Just bought the thermalright peerless assassin se for my second system a 5600X struggling on the old cooker that came with the 3600.

Thermalright has been one of my favorite cooler companies from their beginning. Great coolers and fans with reasonable prices .. often much cheaper prices cooling better than coolers costing 2-3 times more.

thermalright have really shown how much price gouging is going on by the likes of noctua.

I have both the NHd15 and the peerless assasin on my secondary box.

Is the assasin better value? no doubt about it, but I will caveat that with the NHd15 being more quiet at high loads IME.

Is is worth twice the price? arguably not, but if they were the same price i'd go for the Noctua.

Think I still have a TRUE around somewhere, legendary cooler IMHO.

Been looking at the Phantom Spirit too, looks to be a little better than the PA120.
I got a Phantom Spirit for another 5800X3D build I'm doing soon. I think I'm going to try it with only one fan in the middle, just for asthetics. I know I can move the front fan up to clear ram, but if it doesn't need the front front fan, I think it will look better without it rather than breaking the symetry.

My Noctua nh-u12s redux has been humbled by the 5800x3d.

I am contemplating the Deepcool Assassin IV, expensive but looks cool af, and comes up well on benchmarks.

i bought the Thermalright Assassin X 120 SE for a 10th gen i3, as my old cooler was fowling the RAM sockets. for £19 im pretty impressed, well packaged , looks, good, easy to fit.
