The XX - Coexist

Unless someone recommends a band to me, I rarely venture into new bands. I bought all the JJ72 stuff this year, to get the b-sides etc, some awesome music.

Looking forward to the new Suede album

Was really disappointed in Coexist, not a patch on their first album.

Probably Handwritten by the Gaslight Anthem for me, although The Lion's Roar and My Head Is An Animal are very good as well.

Was far more mature as far as I'm concerned.

Hmm, in my opinion it took a bit too much from Jamie's solo/mixing stuff. The first was much more simple which worked for me.

It might be more musically mature and technically better, but it doesn't necessarily make for a better album in my opinion.

e: Although Chained might be their best song. Fantastic.

Some additions:

Brother Ali - Mourning in America and Dreaming in Colour
P.O.S. - We Don't Even Live Here
The Swellers - Running Out of Places to Go
First Step to Failure - Our True Enemy Has Yet to Reveal Himself (not least because it was my first release for my record label)
Right Away, Great Captain - The Church of the Good Thief
Gallows - Gallows

Deftones - Koi No Yokan

I haven't bought a lot of 2012 albums. Off the top of my head....The Killers (average), Greenday (boring), Linkin Park (utterly dire), Ihsahn (very good), The Mars Volta (very good), The Offspring (alright).

A couple more to add to my earlier list. In fact, these two are probably the best I've listened to all year. Highly recommended.

Dog Is Dead - All Our Favourite Stories
Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg

Oh and not as good but still one of my favourites from this year

Passion Pit - Gossamer

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The XX - Coexist is pretty good, picked that one up recently.

I've give the Deftones album many listens today and it is right up there, usually they seem to release an album avery 3 years or more so I was quite surprised that they released this one so soon after Diamond Eyes.
