Best Bang for Buck! Nvidia or AMD now..

That would have been another 3-6 months of sub standard gaming though waiting around. I don't think I need to reiterate again that waiting for more performance is a never ending game.

It's worth the small wait for a big performance increase though considering how long the last high end cards have been out. Different if it was 3-6 months ago.

It's not a small wait in the tech world though as by that time it may only be a small wait again for the next cards. Can you not see what I'm getting at by saying it's a never ending wait or are you just being purposefully ignorant?

No it won't because once high end Maxwell or Amd 390 are out it will be a long wait. Can you see what I am getting at by saying that or are you just being purposefully arrogant?

So you know what's coming and when? The only one being arrogant here is you. Making up guesses off the top of your head, seemingly knowing when nvidia and AMD's planned releases are.

It's called educated guessing judging by knowledge of the reality of what's happened in the past. :) Now I will leave you to it.

Oh that old educated guess again, considering a die shrink is on the horizon for both sides and the possibility that AMD's next card might be 28nm again it would be rather silly waiting for that, buying it, then having 20nm come out a few months after. That's a bit more of an educated guess than what you've said about waiting for AMD's next card as there won't be a better card for a long while after that.

If 20nm is only another few months after Amds or Nvidia's next high end how do you know they both won't be on 20nm?

How do you know you they will be?

Like I said you're just guessing based on nothing, there's zero logic behind your posts even though you claim it's

educated guessing judging by knowledge of the reality

Which is basically just a fancy way of putting you know nothing.

How do you know you they will be?
Can't see Amd doing that but Nvidia might judging by past experience. Milk them thrice.

Well I've learnt a lot from this thread.

1) The usual ATI or NVidia arguments are still there.
2) The usual "wait for another 3 months and the better cards are out" talk.
3) Thread hi-jacking and off topic posts are still there.

LOL

These are light hearted statements, and not meant to offend anyone.. x

You have offended me (only joking) :)

It's really a pity you are upgrading now as the 390 should be out Feb/March next year on 20nm and HBM memory if all goes well. If your a person like me that only upgrades every 2 to 3 years it will be a good sizable increase in performance compared to the 970. You will still get a massive boost from upgrading from crossfire 5870 now to the 970 of course. I just like to see people get the very most value for money for the same price.

Some people tend to say go for what's best now as you will be always waiting but then there tends to be a lot of people on this forum that change just to play with something new and if a new card comes 3 months later they upgrade again and again.

If you are that type of person or are just happy in a boost over your old card then the 970 will suit well and you will no doubt get it. If a person's next upgrade is 2-3 years down the line however and they want the absolute best performance for price till then I would suggest for them to wait to Feb/March as the length of time old gen Ati cards have been out it will not be a great deal longer till new gen.

win8.1 - If you could see how Dead Rising 3 and Shadow of Mordor run on my PC now you would upgrade in an instance..lol

3 months of better gaming is what I'm looking for. With a view to upgrading the whole system in 8 months or so when the prices have settled. I'm running a 1156 motherboard with 2.0 PCI express..not great in this world.

The 970 suits my needs and fits the thread title perfectly. "Best Bang for Buck! Nvidia or AMD now.. ". :-)
