The problem I see with your theory is you will never buy, as there is always something around the corner. I bought a pair of Titans on release day and if I had waited 6 months, I could have save money and got the 780 and then if I waited another 4 months, I could have grabbed a 780Ti or 290X and if I waited another 3 months, I could have grabbed the Titan Black and if I waited another 4 months, I could have grabbed the 980....

Lol no. You usually wait until you get a sizable increase in performance on your last card unless you have money to burn. In your case you would be better waiting until Titan 2 as you don't mind paying £800+ although I would say the 780 equivalent of Titan 2 won't be far behind as it's been a year since Amd launched the 290. :)

No it's still just a guess.

Nobody said it wasn't but I still think a educated guess based on Amd's track record and them not releasing the 390 with just a little performance increase over the 290 one year later and knowing full fat Maxwell is coming is better than guessing without that knowledge even if you don't.

An educated guess implies some form of education (edit: of the subject matter) though...

Either way you've already had some posts to yoinked from this thread for rubbish so let's keep it on track yeah? I'm not going to change my mind on the quality of your guess no matter how many times you repeat your belief it's educated.

Not asking you to as you can't see that a person can make a educated guess by what has happened frequently in the past when Amd launch each new high end gen.

I think you are looking too much at what you would do bud and not considering what the OP has asked. I think he has some good info, so maybe better to leave it there.

No I can see it you just aren't fulfilling the criteria of what an educated guess is.

Agreed.

In your opinion but my educated guess is the reality of what has happened many times in past high gen launches of Amd especially 1+ year on from each new gen. Guess without any knowledge of what has happened in the past and that is just a guess.

Oh for goodness sake give it a rest. You're just repeating yourself.

As far as I know OP asked Amd or Nvidia and can wait up to 3 months. He will probably go 970 as he is upgrading from a older card so will be happy anyway but if he can wait 3 months or a little longer he will get at least 30%-50% more performance on top of that for the same money.
