Best Cheese?

That Welsh stuff they sell in Tescos is winning it for me.
Don't know what it's called though but it's in Black wrapping, Maybe Miners Bell end or summit.

This week I hve mostly been eating Etivas, Stilton - only Colston Bassett will do, Lanark Blue and Wife of Bath.

I agree that Mahon is good, but it has to be a soft one, not one that's gone hard.

For a treat oak smoked cheddar or mexicana (chilli cheese)

But normally just a big brick or mature cheddar.

Some local markets do some other cheeses like mustard cheese or horseraddish.

OMG I love Wensleydale. It's the best cheese, even nicer with cranberries in it, that's just cheese heaven.

I'm also partial to mature cheddar, brie and red Leicester.

I wouldn't nominate any one cheese as the best: I like different ones for different meals and moods.

Had some amazing Cambozola and a nice Lancashire (booo!) at the weekend though, with some exquisite onion marmalade. Oh man, I want some now.

For anyone that likes a strong cheese (similar to cheddar), see if you can get hold of Lincolnshire Poacher's "Double Barrel", which is matured for two-three years. It's by far the most potent I've had, only sold at farmer's markets though.

best cheese for what? so many different uses and so many different types of cheese.

I wouldn't dream of making a cheese cake out of cheddar.

if we are talking about cheese and crackers. I have a liking for cambozola

i love most cheese to be honest, however i do have a soft spot for most blue cheese, at the moment it's stilton that's got me hooked. Stilton melted over steak = heaven

This is like trying to decide which of your children you love the most.

I will pick a strong mature extra vintage cheddar, only as it will go best in a sandwhich.
