Viera was not a DM. He ruled the roost in midefield and was more of a roaming box to box player. Viera would not pick a player for a match and make their life a misery, he was however the target of such players like Makalele. Its was only Maka who could stop him though so in terms of being amazing ill give you that.

GOt to laugh at Arsenal fans who pick Song, Arteta has played the role all year and our record without him with Song in the role is shockingly poor. Song hasn't played as DM for the best part of 3 years, and when he played it, he sucked. Arteta this year, Wilshire last year, and the year before we tried Nasri as a defensive midfielder in parts because Song was so fantastic in the role..... here's a hint, a club generally won't sacrifice multiple excellent attacking midfielders into a deep lying defensive role if your DM is actually brilliant, when Wenger drops Wilshire, who was 90% a winger in the previous 2-3 seasons on loan/reserves, in for your DM.... it isn't because your DM is doing a great job.

Tiote or Parker, last season Parker probably, this season Tiote, though Arteta was by and large very good.

Hahaha no surprise that DM comes in and disses Song straight away lol.

Are the Liverpool fans serious about Lucas. He played pretty well for the first part of this season but has never looked up to scratch prior to that. Even then he didn't look anything special, just better than most of his team which isn't hard.

Might not look special but he won our player of the season last year and had the best tackling stats out of any player in the top 5 European leagues. If you think he played well for the first part of this season you can't have watched much of him last season because he was just as good, if not better, for the entire season
