Hi All,

I'm sure this has been asked before, but in your opinion what is the best defragger program for vista.

Cheers:D

I like Defraggler for its ability to defrag individual files which (inexplicably) finish up with large numbers of fragments.
Windows defragger is whole disk or nothing.

Personally I like Auslogic Disk Defrag, always seems to give me a noticable increase in speed when I used it.

The downside to most freeware defraggers such as defraggler and auslogic is that they make no attempt to optimize drive layout by usage or whatever, they merely consolidate all the files to the outer tracks of the drive which is hardly the most sophisticated of defrag algorithms. Jkdefrag makes some effort at file placement, but for the ultimate in file placement frippery check out Ultimatedefrag Free.

Thanks for the views.

I currently use defragler, but it tends to leave 10gb on average of fragmented files,

Going to try jkdefrag :D

Used loads.

Distrix, Defraggler, Diskeeper, JKDefrag, O&O, Just to name a few.

I honestly can't see the difference between either. So I've just settled for JkDefrag because it's small, no need to install, free and 64bit ready.
