I like Defraggler for its ability to defrag individual files which (inexplicably) finish up with large numbers of fragments.
Windows defragger is whole disk or nothing.
I found the defragmenter in Vista to be good, but if you want to spend some money, then O&O Defrag Pro is really decent, for more freeware ones have a look in the Defrag/HDD Monitoring Software section...
The downside to most freeware defraggers such as defraggler and auslogic is that they make no attempt to optimize drive layout by usage or whatever, they merely consolidate all the files to the outer tracks of the drive which is hardly the most sophisticated of defrag algorithms. Jkdefrag makes some effort at file placement, but for the ultimate in file placement frippery check out Ultimatedefrag Free.
