Best Intel Duo for o/c, performance per pound!

I never said 30c full load i am new to overclocking intels
i can use the 4300 without any crashes at 3.2 ghz stock vcore
have done for 3 days without problems i take it it needs to pass orthos and prime to be valid then? ok i learn again apologies for my blooper.
+0.1 ram +0.1 chipset however you are correct it does fail orthos
and prime at stock voltage im currently trying 3ghz on 1.33 volts
and running Prime online thing current temp is 50c after 10 mins running
i will try see what gets me passed on orthos / prime at 3.2 ghz over the next week.I take it ill need +0.2 on the chipset and 0.1 on ram and something around 1.45-1.5 volts on the vcore then?

It will need around 1.5v to be stable in orthos @ 3.2ghz

Idle temps mean nothing its load that matters.

Can you tell me 0.1 on the chipset is?
what is 1.5 volts on the chipset 0.2?
prime been running about 20 mins now im stil solid at 50c
tuniq fan on full though

Have a read of the DS3 overclocking thread. There is a guide in there on clocking DS3

The E4300 needs many more volts to overclock - for the sake of £6 its better to get the E6300. Yes it has no multiplier but you dont need it as your getting quicker ram in the end aswell.

It does have a multi its just that its 7x rather than 9x of the 4300 :)

But you are right the 6300/6400 is the better choice.

Yea it has a multi but not a decent multi - i was comparing it the E4300 so im sure you understood what i ment :D

1. A 6300 is a speed binned, cache impared X6800 - An E4300 could never have been anything better than an E4300 so if it meets E4300 specs it passes QA.
2. The E6300 has a higher memory bandwidth, stock and overclocked. That will yield extra performance in the complete system
3. The E6300 requires less volts to do big overclocks so it runs cooler

As the current price differential is £6, I'd buy the E6300. I also think it will hold it's value better long-term.

But aren't the new 6300's true allendales i'm reading this all over the net
that only older batches are the speedbinned chips.

ok so the general consensus state 6300 is worth the o/c for the price right? I can easily o/c that past a stock speed of a 6700?

from reading other replies, whats the deal with the cache on the 6600, is that worth it or not?

not sure on these codes on the m/board recommendations, what is good? also on memory, whats best for o/c with? without going stupid on the o/c

all i be using it for mainly is photoshop and lightroom work, occasional games/films, but rare

The extra cache dosnt make much different in everyday applications - only very slight differences in encodeing etc.

What speed is the E6700? 2.7? Well if you buy an E6300 + nice mobo + Geil/OCZ ram you cant set the fsb to 400 and x by 8 which gives you 2800mhz with out overclocking the ram at all.

The multi on the 6300 is 7x not 8x

ok so i will set my heart on the 6300

and what would be a good ram/mboard combo? is it easy to overclock ram?

just stick to geil/ocz? i read somewhere that g.skill is good or stay away? i dont want to spend too much, trying to keep costs to under 500 just for these 3 items.

Oh yeah, with o/c the cpu, is that with standard heatsink/fan? im thinking of using my zalman 9500, hope that will work fine!
