For right or wrong, I still dont think Cech should be allowed to wear the skull cap indefinitely. If he is physically fit enough to be in goal, he shouldnt have any advantage over any other g/k
What advantage does it give

If there isnt any additional protection (even in just a small area) of the cap then there would be no point at all in wearing it.
Therefor given that additonal protection there is an amount of advantage - however small
Al Habsi is the only one who caught a chicken.
BOL - thats a VERY limited / bias view
Look at where Chelsea are in the league , Cech may not be the main failure this season, but he hasnt been at his best either (just like Reina, who until this season I thought was clearly the best keeper in the league, and has been for a number of years)
edit - after reading Tom's second (I think) post stressing "overall" rather than just this season, its impossible to say as some like De Gea have changed leagues (and therefore cant be commented on for vast majorities of posters, who might not have seen him previously), a lot of other g/k may not have played internationals / Euro matches so only have league form to go on, and Cech / Riena have had terrible years compared to their usual high standards

He wears it because it's been medically confirmed he has a thinner skull than the average person. Another Hunt-esque clash without any kind of protection would almost certainly kill him.If there isnt any additional protection (even in just a small area) of the cap then there would be no point at all in wearing it.

So Edgar Davids shouldn't have been allowed to wear those glasses his entire career ?
Absolutely no reason he shouldn't be able to wear it, if anything it will reduce his hearing from calls of his players if you've worse a scrum cap before.
You honestly think Cech wears the skullcap so that he can throw himself about risk-free unlike goalkeepers who don't wear any protection? Like padding in American Football? How many times since 2007 has Cech gained any advantage whatsoever from wearing the hat?thats completely differnet - firstly , I cant see AT ALL how ED as an outfield player having additional protection around his eyes has anything to do with it, he isnt diving in with his face or anything
2nd skull cap I understadn is perforated around the ears minutely so hearing is unaffected
edit I knew ED would be bought up lol, even though the situation, the type of player, the "protection" is completely different between thetwo players)
