Best looking PC Game ?

Wow, those Skyrim shots! I never really got past basic texture mods.

I might get back into it and go all out crazy. See what my 980ti is capable of.

Batman arkham knight is pretty good, been playing that the last few days and the graphics are impressive, not best on PC but top 10.

Hmm.

Witcher 3

GTA V

Ark: Survival Evoled

Trine 3

Besiege

Ori and the Blind Forest

Games with different art styles but still look amazing.

IF we were to include PS4, a new one that's come out Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is STUNNING for a PS4 game.

Some great recommendations here but the best I've seen is The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, devs have just released a UE4 version for free to all owners as well. These are on UE3.

UE4 version is a bit of a mixed bag - the water (and some atmospheric effects like fogging) doesn't have quite the same moody look which was one of the things that really made the original version.

It does do the foliage a bit better though with less aliasing, better blending and retaining a bit better depth perception rather than dense foliage just being a soup of wavy lines.

In your humble opinion ?

And why does it do it for you ?

Skyrim modded.

"Best looking" for me does not mean the most photorealistic always. STALKER looks amazing atmospherically - the lighting, shadows, and weather are amazing but then you have very poor animations and blocky 3D objects.

Skyim is quite a dated engine and isn't the best, but it's a game I can very easily lose myself in. Chuck a few (hundred) mods on it and it can look very good indeed.

I was very impressed with Alien:Isolation. I know that it's closed corridors but I think the developers got it spot on..

I'm quite liking Far Cry 4 at the moment. Some impressive visuals.

I'm surprised more haven't said Alien Isolation.
It runs great and looks even better. Very stunning at times with great effects.
Witcher 3 with some tweaks also looks incredible.
GTA V just for the insane amount of detail and draw distance.
Mad Max aswell for the sheer scope and draw distance and how good it runs. Its a beautiful game with gorgeous looking sky boxes.

What tweaks bud? I think the game looks amazing, if there is something I can do to make it even better. I'd love to know.

And that was my problem with Skyrim, I spent more time modding than playing and when I eventually got around to the 'playing' bit it turned out to be crap.
That's why I never bothered going crazy with Skyrim modding. I did a nice handful of graphics mods, nothing crazy at all(only had a GTX670 at the time), turned up the resolution to 1440p for IQ and focused the rest of my modding inclusions on UI and gameplay enhancements like adding more weapons and armor, more monsters, better balance with magic, etc.

I also love Skyrim, though. I didn't want to make a headache out of it, because I was very interested in actually playing it(already had 250 hours played on the X360).

Probably had about 20 mods installed all in total(counting certain package mods as one), so time spent modding was quite minimal. Never even used any ENB's. Was very straightforward using Nexus Mod Manager and everything booted up and worked first time no problem. End result was still a nice looking game, but my main worry was that it was a fresh gameplay experience from vanilla, but not too crazy, and that was a success. Couple quick screens:

With my 970, at some point I plan to go back and go a bit more crazy with it graphically.

The game had some serious shader aliasing problems that even extreme resolutions couldn't fix. It looked quite nice in normal gameplay, but not anything too spectacular.

Where I thought it really shined was when you held up your scanner and it added the depth of field effect. Then it looked really great.

Modded Skyrim is the business but you will lose hours and hours to the actual modding. I never even caem close to finishing the game:D

Witcher 3 if you want out of the box gorgeous.

+1 for crysis from me as well. I think it looked really well when it was released.

i dont' get why everyone went crazy over Crysis.. its very same'o same'o throughout all the levels.

ok nice reflections and moving branches, and grass woooo... Today every game does that.

Skyrim can look good and can be fun to explorer but I hated actually playing it - the menus and gameplay mechanics, etc. were horrendously clunky and badly thought out - stuff like the implementation of merchants levelling up with you was just really horrid.

I don't mind modding a game to increase the visual qualities, etc. but I dislike having to extensively mod gameplay mechanics and story aspects, etc. on the first play through.

(And that is before I even get to things like split mouse sensitivity and the way that broke at higher framerates).

Witcher 3,GTAV,Dying light and project cars with Mirrors edge getting a look in for art style alone

On the topic of Skyrim I would love to play the total Oblivion Skyrim mod. Looks fantastic and Oblivion and Mirrors Edge are my favourite games of all time. Its too close to decide
