Best looking PC Game ?

Skyrim can look good and can be fun to explorer but I hated actually playing it - the menus and gameplay mechanics, etc. were horrendously clunky and badly thought out - stuff like the implementation of merchants levelling up with you was just really horrid.

I don't mind modding a game to increase the visual qualities, etc. but I dislike having to extensively mod gameplay mechanics and story aspects, etc. on the first play through.

(And that is before I even get to things like split mouse sensitivity and the way that broke at higher framerates).
Many games have flaws just like you described with Skyrim's merchants. Most, in fact. No game is flawless. I could write several page long articles about the flaws in something like The Witcher 3 or Skyrim, but it doesn't stop me from loving those games.

Granted, you like what you like, and have your own preferences and deal breakers, but man, I feel bad that you couldn't enjoy yourself. Especially if you say you enjoyed the exploration. The menus/UI in Skyrim were fine for me vanilla, but were easily modded to be way better if that wasn't your thing. Modded Skyrim actually has the best UI I've ever come across in a large-scale RPG. Something like The Witcher 3 is a nightmare in comparison, even with a far more limited item base.

Anyways, not trying to say you're wrong, but man, I feel like there's hardly a more outspoken group out there than Skyrim haters. If I went purely by what forum posts said, I'd think Skyrim was one of the worst games ever made. Turns out it's just that it was so wildly loved and popular that the people who didn't like it had to raise their voice by several notches in a vein attempt to try and 'balance out' the hype.

Anyways, I'm probably sounding pretty defensive at this point. Which is fair enough, I am. Love me some Skyrim. So here's a beautiful PC gaming screenshot of a good candidate:

ethan carter does look nice.

if you messed about with any engines doing stuff like unreal a cryengine i would say cryengine is probably nicest still.

thing is it just takes so much horsepower to get the very best.

skyrim is nice with enb and mods but some mods are very bad and time consuming to install or conflict.

What we could do with is a Skyrim expert modder who creates a thread and lists the exact mods to install depending on system. That would be awesome. At the minute I'm only comfortable using Steam Workshop.

You want to use Nexus Mod Manager for Skyrim modding, preferably.

The ability to actually 'manage' your mods is quite important. Especially if you're going gung-ho on it.
