Best modern RTS games

SupCom and FA for me, first RTS games I've enjoyed since AoE2, and the first to play well in 3D IMO. I like some depth to my games and I'm still learning stuff about SupCom/FA now a year after I started playing it in the beta. It's strength is multiplayer and skirmishes though, rather than the SP campaigns.

Another vote for Company of Heroes with the expansion. The single player missions with commando's and airborne soldiers are what an RTS is supposed to be like.

Command and Conquer 3, simple, fast, easy. If you were to make a poll you could just say Command and Conquer series.
For me Rome: Total War is still top dog. Can't wait for Red Alert 3.

I have to say a bit fat negative on that one. I like the red alert series and Generals, but never got into Tiberium series, even though previous Tiberium Sun was better than C&C3. Anyway the pole is about modern RTS so it would exclude others from the series.

Company of Heroes followed by Dawn of war. Im looking forward to playing Sins of a Solar empire next month when its released.

Company of Heroes has ruined me to any other rts game... im not sure if i will ever bother playing any other rts again.. until dow2 or coh2 comes out that is :D

company of heroes is an ace game, so is dawn of war, but i can't help still tipping toward supreme commander, due to superior tactical options and more choice, the only bad things i can see with supreme commander is performance, be honest it can be a rig-killer at times and the lack of race diversity in lower levels, everything is so generic in lower levels, and starts to diversify a bit in the higher levels, but each team needs totally unique credentials, was thinking of posting that up one of the GPG.net forums with some ideas. C&C3 is brilliant in its own right as well, its great (like starcraft) as a pick-up and play RTS, its simply, runs on most computers well and its enjoyable, however it doesn't tax you mentally to be honest, and starcraft II will be a behemoth of a game, game of the year anyone?

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance for me as well. A new expansion is probably coming as well and I can't see RA3 being better (although I really want it to be).

Supreme Commander has totally changed my thoughts on resource management, I prefer having to manage mass extractors rather than worry about ore trucks and such. In fact I always play with resource management switched off, timing is the key to victory in my games.

Company of heroes
Sins of a solar empire

Bought SupCom but not a fan and brings my computer to a standstill.
