Best network at the moment to use.

I've just got my 1p mobile SIM. I activated it when I got home from work at 3am or at least I think I did. I've typed in the activation code and then nothing happens. Just the activation number disappears. I know lower down it says it can take 48 hours to activate but as yet I still don't have any data signal and when I log in it says to activate it. I sent or tried to send it a couple of times so I assume it's just waiting to be activated. Did anyone get a notification to say thank you for activating etc? It's not a big deal as it's basically a second SIM for a month until my Vodafone contract runs out.

get onto their chat and ask whats going on, they are pretty helpful

What I have noticed with VOXI is that every few months they update their plans so you can actually get more data per month for the same money. I started at 20GB for £12 a month. A year later I'm getting 75GB for £12 a month. Unlimited everything else also.
The whole family are on VOXI now and we have good coverage in out village with 5G everywhere pretty much.

Not sure what happened but I re-typed the activation code in about an hour ago and it definitely worked this time as it took me to a different page saying it should be done soon. Low and behold it's done and in now have blazing 5g at home. 200mb download roughly.

Sorry if I am misinformed about this but I don't understand the posts saying stuff like "This carrier gave me better coverage than this carrier in this location".

It's a decent assumption to make that people saying this have ported the number with a PAC code. In this instance I don't see how it can be better. My understanding is when you port a number, the original provider of that number (that you had coverage problems with) then routes calls/texts to the current provider. In order for this to work the old provider has to be able to take and route accordingly. Logically to me this means that it also had to have coverage.

Am I wrong in this assumption of how stuff works? Thanks for any info. Just more curious than anything.

I have been dipping in and out of the thread for a while.

The solution for me has been to install multiple eSIM's, one from each main mast provider onto my devices, enable them as data sims only and just switch data providers depending on the nearest mast.

In the UK I keep one Giff Gaff eSIM enabled for incoming and outgoing voice calls where I have ported my main number to.

I then repeat the strategy for whatever non-UK country I frequent.

It's not the cheapest solution but its the most frustration free experience in 2024. I think my Google Pixel can hold up to 12 eSims.

That sounds like an unreasonable amount of cost and faff.

If you want data from any provider, there are single esims that use all the networks for reasonable prices.

I can't use them (single eSIMs) as they are bandwidth throttled on 5G.

I am hitting around 1Gb/sec from some 5G masts now at 40ms-60ms latency if you need that sort of service, there is no cheap option.

Just switched my BT contract over to 1pmobile. Getting 5g at home now which I didn't before, so I guess they have more frequencies than BT (both on EE). All good anyway, 20gb for £19 down to 50gb for £12.50, no brainer.

ive been really happy with vodafonefor yearsss, but this year they simply cant give me any typ of decent price espeically compared to others
