The DS Lite does take GBA cartridges on the console's bottom side. DSi does not take GBA cartridges but DSi does do something else (I think there are a few DSi only DS games). So maybe you have a DSi

Probably the Retroid pocket 2S - Ive not gone with it because its limited to Android.
I dont want my handheld to feel like a phone thanks - Its all about custom firmware to use great things like Portmaster and all the different CFW out there, instead of being limited to Android store

Can you explain what postmaster does in idiot terms?

I see it on a few cfw and mentioned in Reddit posts, but not looked into it.

Allows you to run a manager with many games that have been ported - https://portmaster.games/

Games

portmaster.games portmaster.games

These are full ports of games to Linux for handhelds or otherwise, not emulation. You just provide the required game files. E.g. GTA III, Vice City, Doom 3, Quake 3, RTCW. My personal favourite is Need for speed 2 SE playing on the RG35XX H. RTCW also works really well.

In terms of running it, you connect to wifi, launch the portmaster app, select the game you want and select install. Then copy required files and launch. Some ports do not require files, games people have usually made that include all the assets and are 'ready to run'

I received yesterday a Miyoo Mini Plus after a friend bought one recently. Absolutely marvellous little thing and really enjoying it (playing primarily PS, SNES and GBA stuff).

A real nostalgia trip and works really well on the smaller screen.

Gameboy Advance itself was the last one which took Gameboy/Gameboy Colour Carts

It's a great device, I recommend swapping the included sd card for a named brand one as the cheap ones they include are prone to failure.

Yep, after reading this thread and watching the retro games corp youtube videos, i've swapped the card for a decent Samsung one (and backed it up) and installed OnionOS.

I've also got the "Ports" function working and played Mario 64, which runs "OK".

Loving the GB emulation though especially at the moment!
 
Guys also looking at these now :) Has anybody bought the RG353V from Aubernic, its a bit more than the Miyoo Mini Plus, but has switchable Linux and Android.... Im just looking for something for Wife as we go on Hols end of June. I,ll have my Switch so thought id treat her to some old school Gaming for the Hols.Amazon have it for about £110, obviously Aliexpress is 70 but probably ship from the moon.... I wish the Switch would have some complete package rather than the arcade archives stuff...

I did look at Steam Decks etc, but quite expensive and no real plug and go for retro stuff, without some fancy side loading of sorts

I then gave away the H to my girlfriend's sister and then bought it again for myself because I like it so much. I think the H is the best one out of them all.

Ray i presume the 3535V is the latest version, Im contemplating this model now.... Seems like the most up to date version... I do see the 35xx listed which is a lot cheaper. Not sure how diff they are maybe new Guts faster ?

I don't know any 3535V or recognise that number, I just searched it on Aliexpress and make sure it's the H. I think they are all the same internally. Don't expect it play above N64/PS1 games though, but I only really play SNES/NES/MD/GB/GBA games anyway so it's fine.

Actually, I can't get N64 to work yet, missing bios or core or something.

353V typo maybe?
The RG35XXH plays N64 (mist ganes) pretty well using Mupen Rice

Mine just wouldn’t load, I’m missing something…and need to put it in the correct place, or whether batocera has everything built in and I haven’t flicked a switch or something.
 
Regarding the steam deck, is there much difference between the LCD and oled screen. I was thinking of picking up a cheap one and sticking batocera on an SD to run on it. Plus an upgraded SSD for steam stuff.
