Best Retro Handheld

What screen does the Odin 2 Pro have? The screen on the Retroid pocket mini really makes the device, its outstanding colour wise and brightness. Better than my iPhone 15 pro!
The mini has its problems too, but they're by far outweighedby good points. My gripe is clicky face buttons and my T2 R2 triggers have squeaky / creaky springs - Retroid are sending me replacements with a toolkit to fit new ones. They said if they still dont work they'll send me a new device :)
It's an IPS screen but I've heard it's really nice. There is a new Odin (portal) being released December with 120Hz oled but I'm in no hurry for that yet. The Retroid pocket 5 I cancelled would have been real nice too with its oled display. I may revisit that I'll see how reviews go.

I appreciate the feedback thanks. I'm just loving handheld gaming at the moment getting the SD has been an eye opener for me. Just can't be bothered to sit at my desk and it's so convenient sitting in bed say. I'm not expecting miracles from the OD2 pro but it for me ticks the boxes. As long as it works well with retro games and ive heard it does then I'll be happy. If not I'll just sell it.

Yeah I've been a bit obsessed myself, AliExpress has been awesome as I've been able to try and return a load of different devices.

I'm playing Ridge Racer on the PSP as we speak... it's flawless at 4x resolution and 60 FPS... I have probably played more PSP on this than anything else. Being stick focused and with a lovely wide-screen and ergonomic grips it's spot on.

I used them a couple of times, my RG556 took a the full 15 business days to ship, plus 5 days to process.

That said just noticed they have black RPMinis in for £176 delivered with code, hmmmmmm.
Seems expensive. I paid 209 USD inc. delivery direct from Retroid

Subtotal
$194.00
Shipping
$15.00
Taxes
$0.00
Total
$209.00 USD

Pyn Goretroid, £156.61 came out my bank (1st Oct)

Speaking of that. I pre ordered the Retroid Pocket 5 for $229 usd. That was £183.46 from my bank account. I then cancelled they refunded me $229 usd I got £175.91 back. As well as my bank hitting me with non-gb trans fee of £9 so bit bummed out by that one.

Depends on your bank and how you paid (credit / debit)

Nationwide select credit card never charge for purchases abroad and rates are what the are (i check xe.com)

Holidays I always pay for most things and get people to send money as it always works out the cheapest on my card.
Some friends use Monza i think which is also good (then use tricount too see who owes what)

What handheld device would you all recommend for games up to PS2/Gamecube?

Been on the fence about getting a Steamdeck for emulating but think that may be a bit overkill!

Anbernic T820 devices (RG556, RG Cube, RG406V) will do most PS2 & Gamecube with tweaks.
A bit more powerful is the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, then Retroid Mini and soon Retroid Pocket 5.
The next step would be Ayn Odin 2 and variations and then mini pc's like Steam Deck Legion etc.

As above, depends on the size and price you want to pay.
Smaller devices, the Anbernic RG Cube and Retroid pocket mini are the only pocketable that can do GC and PS2. Cube will need tweaks for more games and is 1:1 instead of 4:3
Odin2 Mini is a bigger, 16:9 more expensive (double the RD mini for the pro model)

The only 4:3 screen device that plays GC and PS2 is the Retroid pocket mini. The screen is also incredible

How do you find it so far?

Love it. Screen is gorgeous and its just the perfect size for what I'm playing(Mainly Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike). Definitely going to tinker with a different OS, The stock one is serviceable but would like one that's a bit more pleasing on the eye. I saw a lot of complaints about the analogue stick but I think its actually pretty decent tbf and my preferred control for 3rd strike. I wish i'd a got a case for it day one as the screen now has a gouge after I put it in my work bag but that's on me.
