Best Retro Handheld

Love it. Screen is gorgeous and its just the perfect size for what I'm playing(Mainly Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Definitely going to tinker with a different OS, The stock one is serviceable but would like one that's a bit more pleasing on the eye. I saw a lot of complaints about the analogue stick but I think its actually pretty decent tbf and my preferred control for 3rd strike. I wish i'd a got a case for it day one as the screen now has a gouge after I put it in my work bag but that's on me.

Did it come with a screen protector from the box? All my Anbernic devices came with one previously. The RG35XX (OG) and the two RG35XXH.

I've watched a lot of this guy's videos and used his guides for a massive amount of research, as well as to setup my rg35xxh and Retroid 4.

I'm sure many others watch his stuff, in this sub forum.

I can't see any specific videos on his channel explaining the situation, but the article above was quite informative.

I watch 99% of his content, from when he was making video in his shed. I saw that MIG cart video and thought “he is brave….” Then a couple of days later it got taken down and I wasn’t surprise. The real surprise was the 2nd video also got a strike too when it had no MIG references.

He is probably the best retro game creator out there with his guides and reviews.

Hmm, after not turning on the RG35XXH for a few months....it somehow bricked itself.

I thought it was a flat battery, so charged it. In fact, I could get the screen to pop up to say "Press Power button to boot" with the bottom saying "battery charged 100%". Then the bar at the bottom moved from right to left....then the screen goes black.

It doesn't boot with the USB cable plugged in. Tried taking the SD card out then boot, nothing happens when I press the power button.

The charger light does come on, I can see the boot up screen for a brief moment but then nothing.

I will wait for full review before dipping in, probably a black one due to the side bars for 4x3 games.
Yep, went black (sane as mini)
I’ll sell one if them as doubt itll lose much if any selling second hand.

Is his in the youtube vid a review unit as it diesnt ship until Nov 14th?

Yeah, 2 weeks from now before shipping. So no rush to order now. Also, I found Retroid can take a while to ship. I remember last year ordering before I left for Japan and it was meant to come out when I was in Japan, but it took almost 3 weeks after release before I got shipping notification.

So I have decided to return the RG CubeXX, although the screen size is nice (in particular for SNES as 8:7 is almost full screen) the d-pad is just too uncomfortable.

I'd only played in short blasts over the last week but had a longer stint on Link to the Past yesterday and after an hour my hands were aching.

Disappointed as I thought the ergonomics of the device would be perfect for me, essentially an upgraded RGB30 but not to be.

The main face buttons are also not the nicest feeling but I could probably look past them if the d-pad wasn't an issue. The triggers and bumpers are nice and quiet though which seems to be a rarity with handhelds at this price point.

Think I need to give up with Anbernic, don't get me wrong they are good value for money but there is always some deal-breaker for me personally.

I have an Odin 2 for high end stuff and a Miyoo Mini Plus with OnionOS and I still haven't found anything that beats the Miyoo.

How easy it is to return back to Aliexpress? Doesn't the postage back to the other side of the world a bit costly?
