Best Single Player Game ATM

Assume I've lived in a dark hole for the last... lets say 6 months. I'm looking for a really absorbing, interesting game. What's the best game you've played as a solo game in that period... any genre and if you can be bothered, tell me why.

Crysis, COD4 or The Witcher for me but COD4 should've been longer.

If it wasn't PC only (I assume it is), I'd say Mass Effect by a country mile.

PC only - I've spent too long away from PC games, FPS especially - I was beginning to find them all too "samey" ! However, as stated, genre isn't important, I enjoy most.

It is, read more closely

The witcher is one of the best RPG games i have played in a long time that doesnt involve turns.
Best shooter was Call of duty 4 no doubt.

It's miles better than Oblivion IMO. More linear but done much better on the whole.

I still say COD4 is the best game I've played for a long time.

A great story line to follow and I think the game its self is very realistic.

There is one problem though... The game is very short but don't let that put you off... It really is a fantastic game.

OK, I like it so far. I never thought about trying Witcher. Read some good things but didn't' really consider it. Was about to buy COD4 so this really just confirms it. Any more for any more?

Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episode 1 + 2. Best Campaign singleplayer game i have ever played. I think my next favourite is F.E.A.R

Stalker. Oozes atmosphere and with one of the better mods installed, totally unpredictable, living breathing world. With texture mods applied, quite stunning too.

hmm there actual quite a few,
stalker, HL2:EP2, Portal, COD4, Gears of War, Crysis, Bioshock,

If you look around you can find the orange box and Gears of War and stalker for about £60.

I'm also after a new game to play...

I don't mind what it is, aslong as it isn't an RTS.

Things I've already played recently : HL Series, Crysis, Timeshift, COD4, Oblivion.

Can anyone suggest a new game? Bioshock doesn't really look appealing to me.

PC Specs - E4600, 3870, 2GB Ram.

I know it's a few years old (I've been in the black hole longer than you

) but I'm playing Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines and finding it fun and immersive - has some of the best-written humorous dialogue options for the player that I've seen in any game since the first couple of Monkey Islands!
