best washing machine?

Have you room for a toploader?

Top loading is king for so many reasons.
Reliability, servicability, general design, unloading/ loading, noise reduction.

I'd listen to OldCoals, He's the resident forum expert on washers, so much so, he's convinced me to make an LG my next washing machine purchase & I used to sell washers for a living.

I did sell a few LG washers towards the end of my sales stint, mainly 'cos the boss got a load in & they were offering a free 5 Year G/tee with them so no trying to sell a expensive warranty with them. :p

Same here, I think it was Raymond Lin mentioned about LG and jumping into 'Home & Garden' I found an old thread on washing machines :)

I liked the LG at my last residence but the noise it makes as it fills up was annoying (though quiet in operation otherwise).

I picked up the Samsung eco bubble and that's been good so far, so that gets my vote :).

I got a miele off ebay for ~£300 delivered. W3204 version, probably about 6 or 7 years old. Been working well the past 9 months!

I bought lg this year, with direct drive, nice and quiet, filling a bit mosey but doesn't last long, the tu e remind the gf to empty it ;-)

My Hotpoint needed a new bearing which meant replacing the entire drum assembly at a cost of >£100. It was only 3 years old. I Needed a quick fix so looked on ebay and found a Miele for sale locally for £120. 18 months later and it's still going strong. It's 14 years old now (looks about 2 years old, it's still in great condition), and looks almost identical to some of the current models. Weighs 30-40% more than a cheapo washer and is certainly built to last.

My brother-in-law bought one as well, for the same price I paid. No problems with his so far either.

I would never buy anything other than a Miele. False economics to buy anything else, as these things last so long they pay themselves back :)

Of course, if you can't afford it, then you're screwd with the cheaper stuff.

LG with Direct Drive, you would be mad to buy anything else.

for what reasons? and how much people actually use there washing machine should be the biggest choice in what they go for

I don't believe I ever had a washing machine motor fail usually it's been the controller board

Doesn't help if it's the last few years they've gone downhill but our Hotpoint has lasted 6 and a half years now, used daily, and never gone wrong.

Now I've said that I'm guessing it'll blow up this week, not that I'd know as I never touch the thing ;)

We find the LG machines to be ultra reliable.

I am more than happy to put an LG up against a Miele.

Well I paid £200 for my washing machine AFAIR let's see how long it lasts :D
I expect it will be years and years since I live alone and only wash a load 1-2x per week.

false economy would likely be me spending 1k on a miele washing machine when I don't use a washing machine anywhere near enough to worry about the predicted cycles before a failure (some washing machines tell you this btw)

Interesting views and opinions. Thanks guys.

Seriously if
What do people recommend? I live on my own so minimal washing.
I wouldn't worry about the big budget washing machines that are more often designed to withstand the daily hammering a family will give them.

when I lived with my ex and 2 kids she was doing 2-3 loads a day etc and a big brand washing machine was a must

Miele have some of their washing machines on a 10 year warranty now......if you're prepared to spend over £1000 on one!

I think I've decided to go for LG F1289TD5 (but it has square buttons so the later model) for £349. 8kg/1200spin direct drive. Its A+++.

Its in steel so it'd go with my fridge. :)
