Best way to bulk up

Personally, I would try get down to 12-14% before starting a bulk, but it's your call.

If you are endomorphic, you probably don't deal very well with carbs, i'd make sure you are getting around 10g of Omega-3 daily and try to eat the majority of your daily carb intake around your workouts.

Well 13% was my target. Body was responding to cardio but didn't like the rate of the muscle/weight loss ratio. Yeah simple carbs tend to make me fat fairly quickly so i'm trying to eat good complex carbs (mostly oats).

I've got omega-369 fish tablets. How many grams would 6 of those be? Also, would it be okay to do squats and deadlifts on the same day or is that an overkill?

squats and deads are ok if you can handle it, but with only 2 days to train you may want to split the workouts evenly.
Also mate, in bed at 11.30am and up before 7am? I know you're only training twice per week, but personally i'd be looking for a little more sleep if i wanted to achieve those goals.

Also;

Lol, thread could have so easily ended at that.
Should be a bb's tanith!

I've got no diea how many grams they are, it depends entirely on the size of the tablet.

However... you don't want to be ingesting lots of the, I was talking specifically about Omega-3.

It's pretty cheap to get a fair bit of Omega-3, simplysupplements.co.uk are doing a buy one get one free.

It helps increase your insulin sensitivity which is paticularly useful for endomorphs.

Jacko, 7:30 hours sleep isn't all that bad. I would always aim for 8+ but it isn't too bad.

Wardie, no i agree its not bad, but you never really fall asleep as soon as you get into bed, so i'm betting he's on less than 7 hours per night.
I think with him not managing to train more than twice a week then he's going to struggle with bulking up in a (muscular way) anyway, so it may be fine for him as he's not over exerting every single day. I just think that the more sleep the better. Wish i could have more :(

Okay i'll try and get some omega-3 supplements.

I tend to aim for about 8 hours of sleep and your right sometimes you don't fall asleep quickly but after those squats and deadlifts I fell asleep in 5 minutes :D

Shall I get hold of some L-glutamine to help recover quicker so that I can add it to my PWO shakes? I'm still experiencing DOMS from Mondays workout .

Lol, A-men, brother! :D

Personally when i used glutamine it made a difference. Quicker recovery, felt stronger, felt harder as well.

I get 5-6hrs sleep every night it hasn't hampered my growth and development. Slowly creeping up to 220lbs which is my target weight keeping at 13% or so.

I think it is important to sleep well, but it has to be good quality sleep. I just wake up naturally after 5-6hrs sleep. I train 4x a week (well I do now I'm working sensible hours (i.e. less than 14!) minimum.

yep, horses for courses. That's why i wasn't being definitive with what i said. I just menionted that more wouldn't hurt. If he can live on such an amount AND achieve his goals, as you do yours, then good-oh....More waking hours to watch pr0n. :D

I usually get 6-7 hrs sleep a night, i just can't sleep any longer than this. Weigh around 14st 10Ilbs at the moment and have never been stronger. They say your best gains are when you first start out but i feel i'm getting my best gains right now after around 42 months of serious training. It just seems to get better!

Hoping to be in extra awesome shape around Febuary for my next hol.

Are you still managing to distance yourself from all the psuedoscience/supplement nonsense out there FF? My money goes into quality food, always has, always will ;)

I'm stuck in two minds now whether to go with Glutamine or Leucine

Do you guys always do cardio on your off days when bulking?

Cardio on your off days is absolutely fine, just make sure you eat enough to compensate :)

Personally, I very rarely do cardio. I've started doing a little bit of swimming every so often.

I've got my motivation back now, I had a wobbly period of about a month with a big business merger that was taking up all my time 14-16+hr days for 4 weeks made it almost impossible to eat well/train well.

My diet is still tip top, however I do have a stash of protein for days when I just can't bring my protein levels up to a suitable level. However, I'm still of the mindset that hard work and a good diet outweighs all else, however the extra protein does help at times and having thought about it can understand it's relevance. I don't use it as an alternative though so don't worry! 5lbs lasts me several months!

I'm starting to feel monsterously strong again so I'm rather chuffed about that, and my size and development is also starting to improve again, so all in all, I'm happy. :)

Good stuff FF. Those few weeks away from the gym won't hurt you in the long run, and work/money should always come first no matter how keen you are of your hobby mate :)

Absolutely agree about the protein intake, i always aim for at least 1grm per Ilb of lean body weight. I know you've got your head screwed on in regards the nutrition side of the game, your results prove that :)

Keep at it! and show the nooby (and oldie) trainers what can be achieved in a relatively short period of time

Hehe - well I'm definitely back with a vengence so we'll see. Training tonight, will post my training in the rats thread later.

I wouldn't bother with glutamine unless you have IBS (if you don't even know what that means, you don't have it), go and buy yourself a steak instead!
