That's the big relief..I read in some quarters once installed on other hardware there could be problems installing another "free" version!

Treat me as stupid..does the USB for the install of the OS need to be formatted in any particular way?

the W10 tool can do all of that for you so no need to worry.

the issues of activating W10 are normally caused by a bios update or new mobo as W10 activates by hardware ID rather than product key

I installed W10 last night to the same SSD, thought it was a fresh install for a new build :)

Having not done an OS install since Vista in 07 I was pleasantly surprised by how easy this was. I was expecting installing Windows to take far longer but in reality, downloading and creating a bootable USB using Windows 7 (laptop) and then installing W10 was actually the easiest and quickest part of setting everything up.

I keep getting invalid partition table, I have it set to boot on USB-FFB and that's it.

Also I can still boot to my old drive, but when going to try and install it via the old OS, of course it doesn't let me skip the serial number part.

what is your boot order?

boot from USB stick and then it should start the W10 setup.

try using USB 2 port as well, what SSD are you using?

Its odd...its a Gigabyte MB, theirs a range of USB options but they don't seem to see anything..theirs USB-FFB, USB-ZIP etc.

Trying to install to this, it hooke dup formatted and working fine.

No..turns out Gigbyte is just TERRIBLE for USB boot drives.

Mad a bootable USB with the ISO, that sorted it!
