bet365 boss pays herself £265 MILLION

I find gambling fun. That is until the last leg of a 10 team acca let’s me down, it’s then that the homicidal thoughts begin.
Yep, and that's when all your monies go straight into some billionaire's back pocket.

Cant believe people think she started a "successful business" LMAO.

"oh yeah, I'll set up hundreds of machines, which take 100 people's money, and then pays out to the 101st, the potential of being 101st person at the machine will make desperate idiots keep coming back for a chance to be that person"

I mean that is not "business".

That's one of the key things here. People choose to gamble. I don't personally so none of the £265million is mine :). Ie, the profits have been made from people that decided to use their services.
It's up to our country to decide what's right and wrong and manage that via laws. It's not illegal to gamble or illegal to be a bookies. Likewise there are no laws against how much money can be taken from a company by those running it. I do think someday the world will need to change a bit though. Problem is the human race is naturally a greedy race and individuals self-focused.

It’s not quite as simple as that in reality.

There should never be laws stopping people who own a company taking as much of the profits as they want.

It’s their company.....it’s their money!!!

It's not really their company though is it.... Imagine the pyramid of capitalism, it's held up by the base. Now if you spin that pyramid and try to balance it on its apex, then it will simply never work.

We seem to be thinking on completely inverted thoughts lol. My understanding is its the 98% of the population who really keeps things moving. The apex of the pyramid is just there to keep the sides from falling out and to stop everyone being free.

The only people to blame for this sort of stuff are the consumers for continuing to give her their money.

It is the same as when people complain that footballers get paid too much.....well stop giving them the money if you don't like it.

No one is forcing people to gamble with her company and no one needs to do it to survive so it is the consumer's fault.

Footballers aren't feeding an addiction (i think...), gambling should be banned full stop, it's a moral problem that has a simple solution.

I don't gamble, personally I think it's a tax on the stupid to quote Rupert Murdoch, but we shouldn't ban it. What gives you the right to tell other adults what they can spend their money on?

Why? Plenty of people can gamble responsibly, just because some can't why should everyone else suffer?

That's like "drinking responsibly", it's never responsible, it's just less damaging and potentially profitable (maybe) over a life time.

Gambling is the mental illness of addictions, grossly acceptable and ignored.

I agree completely. I'm thinking more about fairness across the board though. Ie, it would need to be done across the board, laws applied to all companies. For example, should a certain % of profit be paid as salaries to non-director employees or something? (just a thought this is however). I was also thinking more around ensuring those running companies do not completely drain a company of funds leaving the taxpayer to potentially pick up the bill when companies go to ruin. Other than that, yep, freedom to do what they want.

I'm a typical capitalist really but I do see a future time where we may have to change focus as a species. It does also make me sad when our wealthy nations also have a lot of poverty too. WHile working hard helps, there's often a degree of luck involved in success and that starts from birth. I admire those that pay a lot back to society when they've managed to build huge wealth (Bill Gates for example)

Exactly.

Must have something to do with how they plaster:

FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN

on the windows of all betting shops.

Why even say that it's "FUN"!

It's shamelessly marketed at kids and the vulnerable, and the digital age has exacerbated the problem no end. It's tragic to watch a gambling addict lose their lot to these sharks, it really is. People saying it's a free choice are just not interested in thinking about the issue - they are oblivious to the tactics that these vultures employ.

"Gamble Responsibly" is an oxymoron.
